A couple days ago I had to replace a coolant line that was connected to the TB so I had to take the intercooler pipe that connects to the tb off (and also took my battery out so I lost my DSMlink settings) and now I'm knocking every time I go past 2k.

When I ease into around 2000-2500 rpms my knock count goes crazy. I found that if I pin it before it gets to the 2k range that it goes into open loop and can pass over the 2k range no problem (my wideband says 10.0-1 afr when at WOT) I searched and found that oil additives work, so i tried that, no luck. Is this phantom knock? Boost leak? It's been pissing me off and I really need to get this working correctly as this is my daily driver. Thanks for any advice.

P.S. This is one of the many pulls I did today. As you can see, I tried to make it as safe as possible, but still no luck...

Thats what i thought because i got upwards of 25 counts of knock in that rpm range. So I just put my knock sensor to activate after 2500 rpms, but I wnat to make sure.
Thanks for your help

The first step is to check knock sensor torque as it should be at 17 lb/ft. Anything more than that will make the sensor much more sensitive to mechanical noises. Second, make sure that there are no frayed wires and even considering changing the sensor entirely. As a third measure, you can add octane (i.e. race gas) and see if knock goes away. If it does, knock was real, but I'm betting that your knock counts are PK, even if it isn't registering the typical 43 counts that a bad knock sensor would. If knock doesn't go away with octane, replace the sensor and try again.

Hope that helps,

Andy
