ok just wanna throw this out there and get opinions:
Leak is coming from where the scatter shield is. I replaced the oil pan gasket dried everything off and its still coming from the same area. Besides the rear main seal, where else could it be leaking from?

It not coming from the top of the block or side. Not from the oil return line either, and not from the oil pan.

I had a really bad PCV valve, replaced it with a evo on and now it will only leak after boosting and slowly not like before.

I have it a shop right now and just in case they come back and say well we replaced it but its still leaking, just wanted to see what else in that area could be leaking oil.

It leaks around from the scatter shield area onto the transfercase.

The oil pressure sending unit, isnt it located on the driver side or under the oil pan ? It shouldnt be leaking by the scatter shield or behind the scatter shield.

Basiclally wanting to know if its not the rear main seal, what else when taking the tranny of in the general area could be causing a leak?

I just dont want to have them charge me for someting that it wasnt or could not be a part that was leaking in that area.

agian the leak is where the tranny meets up with the oil pain and the scatter shield. Its a pretty tight area there, but deff coming from there. I'm almost posetive its leaking from the inner side of the scatter shield (which would mean by the flywheel side, thats why I thought it was the rear main).

They removed the scatter shield, but said the flywheel was dry, my thought was that would be due to heat or maybe even cause it just running down the side of block side and not hitting the flywheel.

Are you sure it's motor oil and not tranny fluid? If you have motor oil around the bell housing cover (I think that's what you're referring to when you say scattershield) and right side of oil pan then I suspect it is the oil pan gasket. Even though you just replaced it it may still be leaking. The oil pan flange may be warped or have some other defect in that area. If it is tranny fluid then you might check the left axle seal. Tranny fluid might be getting slung into that area.

This is assuming they already pulled the tranny and inspected the rear main seal which checked out o.k. (if I understood you correctly)

Pretty sure its not tranny fluid.

As for the scatter shield, I was told thats what its called. This sheet matal when removed you can see the flywheel. Held in place by 3 screws. I was told its just there to keep dirt and debree from getting in there.

I had pressure build up, thats why i believe it truly is the rear main. Cam seals went out too, but those are replaced.

I highly doubt it is the pan gasket, I put a pretty good amount of sealant on there, and let the thing dry for 3 days. plus I watch to where the oil is coming from too. But I guess it could be leaking and then going behind the scatter shield and running down it on the other side.

Besides those two, anything else it could be?

Make sure its not leaking down from the head. If the side of the head is clean, then the only thing is the rear main seal. There isnt any other place where oil would come out of. Oil pressure sending unit is on the drivers side of the engine on the filter housing.

i have a similar leaking problem, but it looks like its coming from the intake manifold and running towards the front of the car.

I'll check out your problem sometime this week, Midnightride. If its cold, though, I won't be doing anything because its been less than 20 degrees for the past week and a half, save for one or two days...

That is called the flywheel or in your case the flexplate inspection cover. A scattershield is something you bolt on top of your bellhousing so if the flywheel or flexplate explodes, it lessens the chance of a piece going through the firewall and into your face. So is it coming from inside the cover area or outside. It is from the inside then it could be either the rear main seal or even your torque converter. A torque converter has oil in it but I never have seen one leak before since they are sealed. It could be the valve cover gasket is leaking on the tranny side but I wouldn't know how it would go under the tranny.
