What advice could you give me on a good water pump? I saw one from SlowboyRacing, and they have two different brands of water pumps. One was the TopLine brand and the other was the oem version. The oem one is more expensive than the Topline one. I was wondering which is a better product for my GSX? i would appreciate the info.

You dont have to go with OEM all of the time. If that was the case no one would ever do anything other than maintain their vehicle. Some aftermarket parts are just as good if not better than OEM.

If you want OEM and at a lower price than SBR go HERE. It's ~ $115 compared to $130 excluding shipping costs.

In my opinion SBR over marks a lot of their inventory to the point that I'll just go some where else.

I'm in the process of getting a parts feedback thread approved on the differences between the topline and oem waterpumps. If you wait till its approved ill send you a link. Also, if you decide to get a topline one, I have a brand new one with gasket for sale in the classifieds. PM me.

Thanks for that piece of insight.... I guess....

All I stated was that OEM is always a good way to go and is worth the buck you spend on it. Again, I would use OEM because I know it works. I've not heard much on the other option so I cannot, from personal experience, recommend it. Judging from what I have seen with 'other' waterpumps, I recommend OEM.

Hey 19Eclipse90 it wasnt a shot at you. I was just giving my opinion on the original post. I myself sell all diferent types of automtive parts for a living. My cousin is a hardcore OEM mitsubishi guy and is always shocked to see that the aftermarket parts that I use cost half as much and still last as long as his OEM product. So I know from personal experience the aftermarket products can be just as good if not better than OEM.

Once I get this product thread approved and everyone can take notice to the visual differences between the two, I personally think people will go OEM. Aftermarket is cheap, yes, but you pay for the quality. When you see pictures side by side of the quality difference between the two pumps, people will understand why so many people are OEM enthusiasts.

Hey Spoolin98 that is definately an interesting link. Sorry you got screwed with so badly by that company.

Water pumps wont sieze your engine if you get a bad one...oil pumps will. Oil pumps are better left to OEM. I would go aftermarket water pump if it were me...

On these cars, no, because the water pump is not directly ran by the timing belt. But why risk ending up doing the job twice? It's not one of the funnest jobs, and I personally wouldn't want to do it more than one time every 50-60k unless I was getting paid for it. It all goes back to the wise mechanics proverb: "Do it once, do it right". In my experiences, that is OEM parts and done.

Cs4g63 - All good man. It's tough to tell what's an attack on the internet and what isn't, sorry about that.
