Terrace,
I've just rebuilt my engine, 2.3L stroker bottom end and all new internals for head (list is in my profile). There is a ticking coming from the engine (im guessing it is the valves) but the clearance is fine between piston and valve. Any ideas as to what is causing the problem?

Head and block were both professionally built separately, mechanic friend and I did the rest. All parts used are in my profile except the new bottom end. 4g64 crank, eagle rods, wiseco 8.8:1 pistons .54mls cometic head gasket.

The 3g lifters are quieter?

3rd gen lifters have a larger oiling hole which tends to be quite a bit quieter.

Can you tell exactly where the noise is coming from? Does it sounds like parts are contacting?

You know, 6 bolts do have a certain noise to them, thats just how they are... they love to be beaten up to be beaten in.

Well I rebuilt the engine for the first time about 7 months ago and I spun a rod bearing after 60kms. Before it went, the valve train was much quieter than this time. The only parts I changed were crank, rods, pistons (rings, bearings, bolts). There was no damage to the head.

How many miles have you put on the car since the rebuild? Reason for asking is usually the lifters will make quite a bit of noise for the first few miles and then go away and be almost unnoticeable.

How did you bleed the lifters before you installed them? If you dont bleed them properly they will make noise.
