Does the 1g suspension tend to wear out?

when i hit a man hole cover, it makes this really loud boom. like i hit something huge when it was only a man hole cover. and it also sends a hard jerk through the car. i dont understand. is my springs and struts bad? oh by the way my car is at stock height with stock suspension. I have Alzenis Radials on some 16's so im sure the tires are think enough.

you shocks might be bad.
how fast were you going when you ran over that hole?

Try to see if it only happens on the right/left or front/back tire.

city limits..around 40 mph. i can push down real easy on my car and it goes down a good inch. hah. i can bounce my car kind of. im guessing bad shocks. whats the best route for ok ride with stiffness for cornering and boosting without looking at the sky???

hmmm your car is 17 years old, about time it started to give. But it thats about what a shock sounds like when it goes bad.
