Since I can't post in the tech forum, I have to post this here.

I'm working on building a rally/auto cross car to race this season, modified/STS respectively. And now I'm looking at upgrading the stock shocks and springs with a 'coilover' system with dampening adjustability and height adjustability. I've narrowed down my search giving my budget and needs to the K-Sport line of Coilovers. I've read good things about them on these boards, but there are three choices though: PRO, GR (gravel), and AS (asphalt). The parts catalog says the GR and AS have longer suspension travels, but they don't mention anything about the valving or spring rates in comparison to their other models.

Can anybody fill me in?

TIA :)

well pro would be the one you might chose it has all around handling and shock stabilaty around your turn. Anything that has longer travel rate is usally ment for dailly driver type driving where there isn't constant turn and braking of the car. The suspension kits you are listing are just as they say, one is for gravel one is for asphalt. The pro kit is ment for extreme conditions like you are probably looking for since your going rally/auto

I'm pretty sure that the "longer travel rate" is to have better stability while going on bumps/bouncing.

exactly... longer travel means greater range of suspension movement, so the car can controur with the terrain 'n such.

I guess I'll call up K-sport when the time comes...

From my dealings with KSport products, they are okay but you do get what you pay for. I personally would look into BC Racing, I don't have my sheet with me so unsure if they make them for our cars or not but if they do, those are super nice.
I have had KSports and dealt with BC's alot and I prefer BC's over the KSports.

i got the ksport entry level orange coilovers. custom 10k front and 8k rear. stiff as my teins but the valving don't seem right. a negative is the brake line don't bolt onto them. wouldn't recommend them for hard core track

Is there a website that I can look at them? I haven't heard of that company before.

Interesting that they didn't revalve the dampers to match the springs...

I dunno if BC makes them yet but I'm friends with a rep over there that I can talk to and see if they are in the future.
Just some information on them are at www.bcracing-na.com
Ill also see if he knows anything cause I'm gonna need some for mine just wouldn't recommend KSports. If Tein makes them for our cars, definately go that route, much better quality then the KSports. Like I said you get what you paid for.

I have their off the shelf setup and like how they feel on the car for what the car is, and for what the suspension is. Like mentioned above you get what you pay for though!

Progress sponsors my race car (civic) and I REALLY wish they had 1g stuff for us as its incredible on all of my other cars.
