Hey there, i'm looking for anyone that could help me here, it would be muchj appreciated. Today, i did theMAS mod and the BCS restrictor mod on my '97 eclipse. I took the car for a short ride, but there was something wrong...when i got home, i noticed that i didn't reconnect the MAS harness...ok, that was stupid, i know...BUT...i don't know why the CHECK ENGINE light came on. I don't know if i'm right, but i think it could be that i removed one too many honeycombs from the MAS. I did feel a difference with the mods...a good one, but i took both of the side honeycombs out and i flushed the screw from the bottom of the MAS all the way, maybe that's too much air... and unfortunately i don't have any tools to measure the oxygen voltage...so...i'm kinda hopin' that my mistake was not too bad. Anyone that could help me on this?

Leaving the mas unhooked is what probally made your check engine light come on. And you may want to put your side honeycombs back in and just take the bottom one out. If you take to much out you will need to add fuel to compensate for the extra air or you may get a check engine light on for your fuel trims being out of range. Go to your local parts store and get them to check your engine light and id bet that its going to be something about you having a mas malfuction and just have them clear the light and then drive it and see how it does, see if the light comes back on anymore

so, is it too much air entering the engine?
I didn't think it would make THAT MUCH difference...but yeah, i think you're right, i'll put back the 2 side honeycombs and take the bottom one  ... Anymore suggestions?
Thanks

So that means that you get too much air and not enough gas in the combustion chamber right?
It means the 2G mas will not read correctly without the honeycombs period, unlike the 1G maf that can still some what read correctly, just less air across the board after hacking. This is why it's ok to hack a 1G but not a 2G, not to mention there is absolutely no good reason to hack a 2G in the first place, an unhacked 2G mas will handle more than what most can throw at it.
