Hi guys, I'm going to buy a YDO electrical oil pressure just had a few questions?

1) must you buy the after market sending unit (a $23 part) , or can you use the stock sending unit?
2) if you can, and do use the stock unit, will the idiot light work?
3) what kind of sweep should it have 80, 100, or 150 psi?

Thanks

P.s. anyone now the moral oil pressure readings on a stock car.( I did the research so many answers )

I'm not farmiliar with YDO. Do you maybe mean VDO?

1) Your probably going to want their sender

2) On a 1g, the light has a seperate sender so I'm assuming the 2g's are the same. If there is another sender on the housing with a wire coming out of it, then the light would still work.
3) I would recommend 150 psi. On cold mornings my car will peg my Autometer gauge and it would be nice to know how high it actually goes. I see your in Buffalo so your probably going to run into the same issue.

Generally you want anything over 10psi at idle.

Yeah I meant VDO.
So all you need is the gauge and the sender unit right, on special fittings because it's an electric gauge, it's all wire

To answer your questions:
1.) You WILL need there aftermarket sending unit.
2.) To answer this question, do you want the stock gauge to still work? If you do then you are going to have to use a t-fitting from the oil pressure housing where you should tap into for you oil pressure source. (One side of the t-fitting for your stock sending unit & the other side of the t-fitting for your aftermarket sending unit). If you don't want the stock gauge to work then just ignore what I just said
3.) Bigger is better so go with the 150psi. Just like seefour said

The idiot light on a 2g is a 2nd sending unit on the back of the housing (pointing at an angle to the ground and back toward the rear of the car). Listen to kmoore about what to do to keep or replace the stock oil pressure gauge/sender.

I've been meaning to add an aftermarket electrical gauge, so if you could take some pics along the way and either post them here or write up a tech article, that'd be swell.:thumb:
