i have a noob question im just getting into the noob scene and im looking for a GST cant find one decent enough mostly every i find is over 130,000 miles or a carzy price od 10,000 or more. I live in pembroke pines area PM me is you have one for sale. But i have found alot of GS weith decent miles on it 60,000 to 75,000 fotr the right price.

for my Question does it make sence to buy a GS and buy a turbo kit or just wait until i find the right GST. What will game or lose.

take your time and look for a GS-T or GSX, don't settle for the GS or RS models they do not come with the 4G63 motor. although with enough mods you can bring the GS and RS up tp par.

also look for a TSI or other DSM turbo charged vehicles

Do you want a 2g or 1g?
2g = 95-99
1g = 90-94

Talon:
TSI AWD - Turbo AWD
TSI FWD - Turbo FWD'
ESI - N/t FWD

Eclipse:
GSX - Turbo AWD
GS-T - Turbo FWD
GS - FWD n/t

Laser (1g only):
RS Turbo AWD - Turbo AWD
RS Turbo - Turbo FWD
RS - FWD n/t

I reccommend waiting and searching... I have been looking for 2 years...

First off is this your first car and also how old are you? If you aren't going to be going for speed right off and would rather just go for complete looks then just go for the GS as they are alot more reliable and easier to find. A gst with that many miles is going to need a big tuneup if it hasn't already have it so remember that you will be looking at a 1200$ tuneup after purchase for the timing belt and water pump.

If your really new to the whole working on cars thing, then I would steer away from a turbocharged vehicle right off the bat especially a dsm. You could get a GS hang out of the forums for awhile get your knowledge up then find your GST. Make sure you take your time and dont settle for a car because its all you can find. And as stated before a GST with that many miles would need a tuneup wich isn't that cheap if done by a mechanic. Good luck let us know what you find.

thanks for the quick response im looking for a 99 eclipse gst or gsx im 22 and always wanted one since high school im not new to cars but i want another car to learn more i am currently in a nissan altima 3.5ser and looking for a weekend beast.

^^Agreed. You should keep your eyes open to the 2G Talons (TSI or TSI AWD). Because it is under the "Eagle" name, usually dealerships will sell them cheaper than they would sell the Mitsubishi counter-parts.

Remember:

The Eagle Talon TSI = GS-T with a slightly different body
The Eagle Talon TSI AWD = GSX with a slightly different body

What am I saying here? I'm telling you that it would (in most cases) be cheaper to pick up one of the two above, and that all the performance parts are interchangable with the examples I gave above.

Guy on dsmlink forums is selling a great looking 99 GST with some mods here: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...=&engine=&fuel=&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=0

Smoking deal at 6500, imo.

^^^WOW, AGREED^^^

:dsm: That's a killer car for the price. I got my 98 GS-T with 92K for just over 7,000 and I thought that was a steal. If that's in your price range and area and you're serious about getting one, I would go for it. Those deals don't last. :dsm: :thumb:

i am relatively new to the dsm tuner world as well and i own a 99 GST and i am really happy with it, but i owned a 99 gs spyder before i owned my GST and let me tell you i could not find hardly any and i mean ANY parts for that thing because it has a totally different motor than all the other eclipses and talons. so i would suggest to stay away from the 1999 GS spyders, spyder meaning convertable. i am not sure about the other year of spyders, but mine was a 1999.:thumb:

Not that this is BAD advice but thats how I got stuck when I first started riding. I started riding a 4 stroke trail bike because my parents thought I couldn't handle a two stroke bike yet....
Like I continued to tell them, I outgrew the 4 stroke within weeks. My point is, if you're a fast learner dont be afraid of stepping a bit higher than your used to.

Altima SEr's are SICK! I used to work for Nissan and was only privileged enough to see ONE my entire year I worked there. Nice cars...

I agree thats an awesome deal on that gst i bought mine for 5500 and only got about 300 miles out of the turbo that was on it. If u wanna go all the way that looks like a nice one at a real decent price. deffinately keep an eye out for gst or gsx that is at good prices like this.:dsm:

I purchased my 97 GST for $8000. local sale, mint condition, one owner, 57k miles. Point is nice DSMs at a decent price are out there... you just have look around and be patient.

im looking for a 99 eclipse gst or gsx im 22 and always wanted one since high school

99 GST/GSX? Rice Over Wheat's find is about as good as it gets...

thanks to everyone for the advice i wont jump the gun(cause i might get shot) i will look for a better deal instead of getting a GS.

that car for sale on autotrader is also in our classifieds. If it came with the rims I would have bought it already :D

i located a white 99 GST with 80,000 miles on it for 6,700. Guy is a repo dealer 72 miles away from me should i jump on that price. He claims it is "super clean"(thats what they all say). ;)

i found mine by mistake .. i just sold my 95 gst auto with goodies for 5g and was on the computer looking around and found a 99 gst with 47,000 on it .. so i wne t and picked in up the next day .. but just go for what u want man .. hell i started off with a 95 rs auto , then wanted something turbo so i wnet and got me a 91 gsx ... well after many problems with the car i traded that one it on a 95 gst auto ... while i modded the car , i was still not happy with it for the fact it was a auto .. so thats when i found the 99 gst .. the car is in show room condition , hell not a flaw on the car , power everthing , leather , stock chrome wheels ..ect ect ... but just look around man dont let someone stir u in the wrong direction . if u know what u want then go after it , and dont settle for anything less .. it took awhile but i found what i was looking for and the price wasnt bad either i end up paying 9000.oo for the 99 gst and i am happy with the out come ... also it is always good to have a daily driver with any dsm just in case something does happen ...

If you want one that bad its worth a look. I'd run down and at least see what condition it is and maybe make a deal with him. Let us know :thumb:

As it was said before, that's not necessarily bad advice, but I wouldn't completely agree with it. I'm still on my first vehicle (I made the purchase about 6 years ago). If you have a family member or a good friend who is fairly knowledgable with general vehicle maintenance (or possibly a local DSMer who is willing to help a Newbie out), then you shouldn't worry about choosing a turbocharged DSM over a naturally aspirated DSM.

That 99 GST in the auto trader is a great deal. The person selling it is very active in the local DSM scene and very respected here in good ole UT. If I had the money I would snag it up in a heart beat. This is not there first DSM they have built nor will it be there last. If its a 99 you want this would be the best one you could find. And as a side note she still has the rims. Just not being sold with the car at that price.

dude. I live near you. I used to live in Ives Dairy/Aventura but i recently moved to Coral Springs near Boca raton. I can agree that it is hard to find a GSX or GST in our area. Ive been a member of this forums for 2 years now (i think this is my first post) and scanning for used GSX's in the area and this forums ever since and havent been able to find a decent one. Im not sure but if you want it as a car you will want to tune for performance, wait a lil longer, if not, and you are using it for daily driving and performance on the other days, get whats out there. If you are waiting though, you're competing against me, because I have been waiting 2 years now and im next in line. LOL.

Good luck on the search

You still haven't acknowledged what some of us have been suggesting. Have you looked into the possibility of an Eagle Talon (that is to say, are there any local attractive offers)? Or are you just dead set on getting a "Mitsubishi" for the name?

there are no eagle talon in our area or lasers either. Ive checked LOL. DSMs are hard to come by in the broward area

the time i took looking for a dsm though, ive learned alot along the way but since the scarcity of them is so hard to come by, ive thought of switching to get another car first and then find one later (but thats a bad route in the future because you wont be able to sell your first car in our area either)
