How many voltage regulators do I have?

I thought I only had one internal voltage regulator, but Autozone was trying to sell me the "external" voltage regulator for my car. If my car has an external voltage regulator, that could be what is causing my alternator woes, but I would have no idea where to find it. Is there an external regulator in addition to the one in my alternator?

thats odd. i looked it up and the 95 calls for a voltage regulator that bolts to the alternator

Last time I checked cars in general only had 1 voltage regualtor. Either on the alt itself or an external one. There would be no point to have 2 regualtors.

Oh yeah and so you know in the future, I'd never buy an alternator from auto zone. I went through 4 different alternators on one car in 2 months. They tried to give me shit about them too so finally I just demanded my money back and went to buy a GM alternator and put it on and NEVER had that problem again. The thing that really pissed me off about it was that it was on my 92 lumina Z-34 with the 3.4 DOHC. If you don't know the alternator on those motors is buried in the back on the bottom and to change it you have to drop the cradle down in the rear. It's not just an easy alt. job. From that moment on I would never touch an alt from auto zone. My freind had the same thing happen to him with a different car though. There's been others too. Never get anything electrical from that place.
