Ok I spent the past 45 mintues searching and reading and havent found everything I needed. The past two days when I get in my car the clutch pedal goes right to the floor. I have to sit there and pump it about 10-15 times and even still it has some free play in it close to halfway down. After I pump it I can get into gear and drive it. I noticed in 3rd gear once it boost up itll start to slip a little. This sort of happened in my 300zx but it turned out that it was the pressure plate. What are your thoughts?

Thanks

check the master and slave cylinders, and the piping, for leaks. when the master goes it can leak inside the car by your pedals too. if there are no leaks, check the level in the master reservoir. if it's ok, you may need to bleed your line. here's a link from vfaq i have used before to bleed: http://www.plymouthlaser.com/slave2.htm

If this doesn't get things going for you, it may be something more serious. let us know.

Lack of pedal pressure(and consequently engagement-disengagement) = problem in hydraulic system.

Lack of engagement with pedal pressure/not "grabbing" = problem with clutch itself /pressure plate

If you're pumping and it works after a few minutes, it's probably a leak somewhere. Eventually you'll lose all fluid and that little trick won't work. As mentioned, check the slave and master. look at the floor around the pedal, if it's wet or oily looking, it's probably the master. It's pretty common. I've replace the master on both of my 2g's and the slave on the current one.

Hope it doesn't happen while you're out somewhere. You could have to learn very quickly how to drive your car without a clutch. It's not hard, but it takes getting used to... kinda fun really... like a challenge on a 20 mile drive home... :sneaky:

And a pain in the @ss if there are lots of stop lights.

yeah after I pump it, it will come back about half way, not fully. In 3rd and 4th its slips as soon as it boosts up

Ok yesterday I finally got a chance to really look over everything. There is fluid all over the inside behind the dash, so then I preceeded to check the clutch res. and the was empty. I called me buddy and told him but he said that makes sense with the pedal but not with the clutch slipping. Well I filled it up and let it gravity bleed since I was going to class and work. It feels alot better now, not 100 percent but much better and the clutch doesnt slip anymore. The master cyl is getting replaced tomorrow and hopefully thats all it needs

my guess is that since you said there was limited freeplay, that was also causing your clutch to slip, but since obviously you fixed that its just something to keep in mind in the future incase your 3rd + gears slip again to be the frist thing and easiest thing to check

Ouch.. nasty. At least you got it all worked out... Did you get a new/upgraded clutch? what about resurfacing/new FW? The great part about pumping the system like that, is the more you do it, the more of that crap you pump right into your carpet. :D

Had the same pumping symptoms with my clutch when I was low on fluid. I have a slow leak, I think the slave cylinder (needs replacing). Whenever that happens I know I need to add fluid as a temporary fix till the cylinder gets replaced. Sorry to hear about your flywheel...
