Ok, basically, does the intercooler duct make a big enough difference to hassle with putting it back? It made getting the intercooler out a PITA. And is a bigger PITA to get back in, so i ditched it. I'm gunna be getting a fmic anyways after I put a new turbo in anyways so it should get enough airflow for stock right? Worth the hassle?

I dont own a wind tunnel nor have access to one, so it should make no difference.

Oh, so that's why!

All it does is funnel the air and gives it direction to go into the intercooler

Yeah, all it does is keep the air directed toward the intercooler.. Completely useless..

First of all, why are you asking? You've already ditched it, seems as though the question would have greater meaning if it were still in your possesion?

Secondly, it's not that hard to get in. It's there for a reason.

Its useless unless you have a SMIC. I like mine still there because it keeps grime from getting up into places I don't want it.

Well I was just thinking I'd ask. I was sort of in a hurry to get my intercooler back in so I just said screw it. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same feeling about it. All it does is direct air, and it's going to get air either way. Air doesn't need direction, it's everywhere. That's what I figured.

Air will travel the path of least resistance. Do you need it in there no. Will it effect the efficiency of the side mount yes. But its not going to raise you intake temps enough to make you notice a thing. With the dam in there the air has one path to follow. With out it, there is probubly a slight amount of turbulance created with the moving air coming in contact with various parts pre SIC. Or a good deal of air will flow under rather than through the intercooler.

Agreed. Under, over, and around the SMIC the air will go. But the OEM 2G SMIC is a POS IMHO.

BTW, like all the acronyms? :sneaky:
