I thought I had the stiffness in my BOV set perfectly, however I noticed on the highway this past weekend that if I just want to speed up a small bit very quickly in 5th I get compressor surge like mad. It happens when I go part throttle and let the turbo spool to maybe 10 pounds and then slowly back off. Is there any way to avoid this? I don't want to mash on the throttle and go to full boost just to speed up maybe 5-10mph.

I guess what i'm asking is, is it surging because i'm only letting it build a small bit of boost and then very slowly backing off the throttle? Or is the BOV actually set too stiff? The only reason I question it not being the stiffness of the spring is because it ONLY does this in 5th gear when I try and boost just a small amount for a short time.

Looks like my driving just needed some work. Making sure I let off the throttle quickly after boost has pretty much solved the problem. It's just strange that I never noticed this before with my old turbo. dunno.

Listen to the Canada man LOL. You are going to feel compressor surge. My 1g flutters at anything but WOT and it doesn't affect anything.

I think I know the difference between fluttering and compressor surge. I know what you guys are referring to. Just letting the turbo spool a small bit and then letting off and it flutters. This is the car spooling up hard and then when I slowly ease off the pedal I get that quacking sound and the whole car shutters a bit. :nono:
