Dear DSM people,

my name is Mathan and I live in Germany..
Last year I imported an 1997 Eclipse Turbo from California. Love that car.

Problem: I got that speed limit at 130 m/hour.
Since you can drive in Germany as fast as you want, that is not so funny..
Can I use HKS SLD (Speed Limit Defencer) or HKS FCD (Fuel Cut Defencer) ??

Already read the tech article, about ECU Manipulation. Don't wan't to fry it.

Anybody Please Help..Help...

thankyou very much

Someone correct me if im wrong, but the GS-T's came with that rev limiter because they only came with H rated tires...The GSX came with a better rating tire so there limit, if they have one is set higher.

Point is you should be able to swap in a GSX ECU and gain alittle more if you want. The ECUs are interchangable...but keep to a 2gB ECU since the 2gA's have a different CAS signal which COULD hinder your drivability slightly...It did mine.

Good point about the tire rating as that is correct. It is also something that should be taken into consideration before mathan333 takes his car down the Autobahn and blows a tire doing 145MPH.

The ECU swap will take care of the problem, but as stated, make sure it's from a 97-99 GS-X since the 95-96 CAS signal is reversed. And yes, there's no speed limiter on the GS-X.

Never used any of the products mentioned, so I can't say.

The first link is for fuel cut which is a totally different animal than what you're looking for.

The second link is for speed limiter "override", which IS what you're looking for.

As stated, I don't have any experience with either.

You should be able to pick up a used ECU fairly cheap ($150-$200 max, probably cheaper), especially from someone that just upgraded to DSMLink. I know mine has been sitting on the shelf since I upgraded, but it's from a 98 GS-T. The expensive ECU is going to be the EPROM ECU from a 95.

There is a cheap fix, it has its drawbacks however. My friend has a Turbo S-10 It cuts out at 107mph. We wired in a switch with the speed sensor, when you get close to the limit flip the switch and disable the speed sensor, no sensor, no limit. You lose the speedo and cruise when you do this however. But how often do you set the cruise at 150mph? Just a thought. Good luck

Mathan,i posted the ecu fix on the other board yesterday evening.. if you want, send me the ecu and ill do it for you.

my friends 2g hit 137 exactly when he said his limiter kicked in?
just invest in an eprom if you ever plan on getting chipped/ or run link in the future and with that you can have the chip programed to eliminate the speedlimiter i believe.

Has to be fun on that autobahn, so can they mess with you for street racing there ( like from a roll ) and is there a lot of accidents?

i have lots of family in germany and visit there at least every other year and ive personally driven on the autobahn and its by far one of the most incredible experiances seeing the world just fly by and not having a care in the world

you guys are wonderful..
you get a good postive comments here..

well i live in the west (100 milesfrom Frankfurt & 10 miles from Duesseldorf)
yes they do mess with streetracing, but the problem is, here are less streetracer.. although you can drive fast..no one hardly does above 120 m/h. But if you want you can go for 200m/h and no problem with the law

Besides: How does this DSM Link work.. (can't efford it to send it to the US)
Or can anyones send a ECU with DSM Link.. (will send the money with pay pal)
Pleased that I get good help here.
thans again.

My parents are moving to Germany....I wonder if I can rent a Skyline next time I come visit...oooh man i'm excited. I just might use that as my excuse to move there and STAY there....i gotta look after my baby sister for the next 4 years...you know....

@ 1gcrazy

sorry to disapoint you bro, but the big problem in Germany is the TUEV ( every driving vehicle, has to pass the test, before it can hit the streets). Don't think you have anything like that in the US. Since the Skyline has large emission, almost impossible to drive it legaly. I know a guy, who paid almost 10,000 Euro for legalising. And except the Foreign Army (like American Soldiers)
they have the law from their own country.

because the mitsu must be allowed to run free like a wild animal not caged up on some city streets
