ok first off let me thank everybody in advance for your help. I just purchased a 4g63t motor that came off a 1992 lancer evo it comes with everything frontmount transmission and oilcooler and of course the long block. what are the main dfferences between the 2g motors and the 92 evo motor also which series of the evo is the 92. What should i look for when i pick this motor up thank you all once again

well i wasn't comparing i was askin the difference and is it worth getttin? i'm not that knowledgable about the jdm motors and i'm not afraid to admit it

In that case , No dont get it .. The benfits of the "jdm" 4g63t motors do not come untill the evo 3 . The trannys are a little better with a taller 5th and double synchro 2nd gear in the evo 1 compared to our 1g 2g dsms though .

Its ok you dont know alot of information about them , most dsmers in the states only know about the evo 3 model because so many parts were upgrades for our cars and reasonably cheaper . turbo , manifold etc .

( I said Oh jeez because the differences between a evo 1 motor and a 7bolt 2g motor have alot of differences . I am not even sure if the evo 1 came with the butterfly intake assuming you could get it to work. )

well i'm actually not going to use the tranny considering for some odd reason i like the fwd. The whole reason i'm buying it is due to the fact i have a spun rod bearing. I would rebuild it myself but i just simply don't have the time or money so i just decided to put in a whole motor

Junk yard or ebay a "jdm" motor just make sure its a red top + cyclone and not gray ( thats a 7 bolt in most cases ) try to find one with yellow top injectors also ( 510cc i believe compared to the 450cc blue tops ) I also think if it comes with yellow tops that means it likely has a 16g turbo .
plus you get the ecu etc with it for around 1500

I'm sure I do not have to tell you though that you are better off just getting the bottom end redone with 1g rods 2g pistons . I don't know the exact price but it should cost you about the same ( even cheaper if you remove and put it back in yourself )

goodluck

thank you for your input i really appreciate it. also it has a gray top but it doesn't say cyclone on it but it does have the 510cc injectors with the big 16g it also comes with ecu harness.

( They only used the cycle intake manifold for a year and a half I believe , I am guessing because of to many issues . Ive never worked on one that actually had all of the hardware to make it work , but from I heard it requires alot of BS to get functioning properly )

Just check and see , I am not 100% sure if the gray valve cover means 7 bolt alough that was my understanding . If you have the engine out you should just put a 6 bolt in anyway for reissurance about crank walk . Alough people tend to blame ALOT on crank walk when it had nothing to even do with it .

Its up to you .

If it's a 1992 JDM engine, it's a 6 bolt from a Galant VR4 and most used the cyclone intake manifold. The Evo 1 was built in late 1992 and released as a 93 model, they came with 7 bolt engine's.

My advice is to get a rebuilt engine from one of our vendors, you'll be saving money and you'll have a new engine.

i would have bought one from the vendors but unfortunetly the price is a lil high for my budget right now this motor is for 1k. This did come from a white lancer evo or so they say. They gave the stock car number also they gave a chassis id number which is cd9a not sure whether from an evo or galant personally don't care. From what i read this motor has 510cc injectors which is a major bonus also has ecu wiring harness drave axle cv axles oil cooler intercooler ac ps and alternator even still has the spark plug wires with it even though i'm goin to replace those. also has the front and rear rocker for the mounts. even if it is a 6bolt it should be a direct bolt up correct?
