ok... Im going to start looking for an safc for my car, but I dont want to spend 300 dollars for one... Do youse guyses think that buying a used one would be a good idea? How would I know if it was any good?

You dont know, you just hope it is. Buy it from someone with good feedback on ebay. You can get them for like $225 on ebay. Make sure you get the SAFC2, its better than the old one. The old one had buttons and the new one has a knob. Get the one with the knob. I got mine from a member on here for like $140, great deal.

Man your in the bay area, I browse the norcal evo forums, and someone was selling SAFC2 for $100!!!!!!!!!!!!! For that price hell yea I would go for it, unless you plan on upgrading to something better inevitably such as dsmlink.

Only way to make sure its good is to test it out, but that would require you connecting it to power and ground, and if they really wanted to rip you off, maybe it does turn on, but the afc control is messed. But that would be super rare paranoia status.

I sold my SAFC2 (limited JGTC edition) I believe for $150 a while back when I got dsmlink. So with those 2 prices I mentioned, maybe you can find an SAFC1 for <$100.

Is 2 that much better than 1? I heard it has 12 tuning points as you stated, but also has a lockout feature so if you bump into it you don't blow your motor. What do you guys think, 1 or 2?

I have one that is on ebay right now for sell. It is brand new. The reserve is only 150. The buy it now price is only 215 shipped. I bought it then found out that I already had an eprom ecu so I just decided to go with DSMLink. It has a black face. I dont have an feedback on here but it's 100% on ebay.

So I say wait to find a deal. They are always for sale on ebay and on here. If you're patient you should be able to get one for a good deal. I would say go for it. There are used loggers for pretty cheap also floating around.

I would pick DSMLink, just from safc2 experiences and seeing how much better it is. But that is the obvious. But between 1 and 2, I would pick, yes a biased choice, but as stated, more tuning points, and some aditional features, and since its going on a 1G I believe you will be able to show knock. Not to mention it looks nicer cause im a ricer. :)

check out the neo or the 2 was pretty nice when i had it. Also Maf translator gen 2 is pretty phat

well... its going to be a minute before I need something like DSMlink... I bought an AEM EMS for my built B16 honda, but it was WAY more than what I needed and was actually overwhelming with all the stuff it does... it was cool, but I need something simple for simple mods... its going to be a while before Im pushing 350, so I figure from what youse guyses tell me, im going to go with the SAFC 2..

I ran into another fella on here that said he would chip my ecu just like DSMchips.com would do.. ya know, hooking up the stutter box, no-lift shift, etc.. he said he would also hook up my ecu so I could run SD instead of MAS.... with all the sensors and everything included, for $180 shipped... this seems like a great plan...
