yes I know christmas is over. I am just checking to see if i am leaving anythign out of my new build for spring break. I have a 98 eclipse gsx, and have not only a crank walking away on me but my first gear is grinding really bad. so far I have a big evo 111 16g, 560cc injectors, aeromotive fpr, holley 255hp (its made by walbro LOL), safc II, and 3inch downpipe. I only want around 350whp.

What I am going to do is build a 6 bolt. with the following. ( i will be building a head next year.)

1g big rods, with topline pistons 8.5 ratio.
oem bearings.
ebay gasket kit.
stock 1g head.
honed, or bored block.
balance shafts removed.
new timing belt.
resused tensonier.
new oil pump.
oreilly water pump.
blasted block and head. block ford racing blue, head White or Silver.
and red hyundai valve cover.
I will slightly port the head to match the gaskets.
New thermostat.
i cant really think of anything else.

As for the tranny it will be a shep stage 3.
I will order in a eprom with stutter box. And shift at 7500. with at most 20 psi. then water inject it to 24 psi.

Am I missing anything or am building it wrong your comments or advise is gratly appreciated. Like I said i am looking for around 350whp, and maybe a 12.5 at the track if I am lucky.

Everything looks good to me. If your going with an eprom I would go with 750 injectors and have it compensated for it, maybe even bigger just so you know you have enough space. Oh yea and a FMIC if you want to boost that high with out injection.

Don't go with ebay gaskets... or atleast the headgasket. Mitsu OEM for that, along with your timing products. You should replace your timing belt tensioner instead of re-using it(unless it was just done)

Have the head checked for warpage, and both head, and block milled to assure a good seal with the HG. I would say...ARP head stud's, or new OEM ones...NEVER EVER re-use head stud's, goo way for them to be stretched, and break. If you have the cash, or the knowledge I would go through the entire engine, and check all oil clearances, and bearing's, and polish them up to get any tiny nick's out of them. Lot's of little stuff you, can do but Im not getting into all that since this wont be an all out race engine. I would also check your cam's to be within Mitsu spec's, if too low, get new ones.

ok so i will be going with 8.5 manley pistons. and dont worry I will be using arps, but a ebay gasket because i want to rebuild the head in a year, or less. This car is not raced just driven. and it will have new oem bearings. I will stick with my 560cc evos. becuase this car is my driver, and If i dyno 350whp I will be happy, and if i wanted a 600+ hp car i would get a 1g. This is just a car to have fun on the weekends with not the track.

I would suggest not porting the head. Unless you do it all the time and have a flowbench, you can actually make flow through the head worse. I would also suggest some type of tri-metal bearings. Many times, the Clevites and ACLs are the same price or even cheaper than stock. You can also add maintenance stuff to your list. This might include any of the coolant hoses, spark plugs, throwout bearing, etc. Just remember that you'll be buying more than you anticipated, so keep some extra money in an account to the side. As you go through, look over everything. Now is the time to replace it, so don't skimp. Good luck!

ok well i wont be needing to build the motor anymore a friend of mine is selling me one of 4 of his that he had rebuilt. with clevite bearings and arp studs, new oil pump, etc. so now i am in a world of hurt over my tranny at first I was like yes shep stage 3, 2k alrighty. then I looked at jackstrasnmissions and I am think of goung witth his stage 2, for 1500. (prices include shipping) I think i will go with jack though because this car wont see past a 20g and maybe a 50 trim. Does any one have any dealing with jacks transmissions.

daily with 8k rev limit and shift at 7500 when racing. will have a stutter box launch at about 4.5k with an act 2600. if i run a 12.5 at the track i will be happy.

I agree here...if porting the head is not perfect it will create the wrong turbulance, and air flow will be bad. Also Derek clevite no longer makes the tri-metal bearing's...unless they finally started back up again. I would also add a thrust bearing to the list since the motor will be apart.

I just bought some from my machine shop for my build. I'm not sure if they are just old ones they had in stock, or if Clevite finally got the hint. Either way, good luck with the build. Shop around and you'll find what you want.

just an update. I will be going with a shep stage 3 tranny. the rebuilt 6-bolt form my friend. eprom chipped with 750s. supporting fuel mods. safcII, and eventually a hoset hx 40. that should put me into the 11s I hope. Either that or I will stay with my 560s and ev316g, and get 75 wet shot. I dont know. what are your opinions ? this is my daily driver btw.
