tranny problems??

umm... lets see i was driving and my first gear felt a lil wierd like i couldnt accelerate very fast. i was driving home and thought something might be wrong. hear a funny clunking the front it souds like. my car is awd and i dumped the clutch and burned out. the next day went to drive it and it would barely move. felt like the clutch wqas slipping really bad. i dunno what ir is, im guessing the center diff broke? but the small clunking noise in the front? axel? im a noob so i have no idea. would apprecieat any help. thanx

You could have broken any number of things, center differential, transfer case, front diff...here is a good way to diagnose these problems:

Get all four wheels off the ground (via 4 well placed jackstands). Start the engine, and put the tranny in 1st gear and see which wheels rotate. I only the front wheels rotate, you broke the transfer case or center diff. If only the back wheels rotate, something in your center differential broke. If nothing rotates, it is possible your clutch is slipping really bad, or your tranny grenaded =) Also, look under the car and check for visible damage. Sometimes the transmission case can crack (look for dripping tranny fluid). When in doubt, find yourself a good DSM mechanic.

BTW (I think the front differential is OPEN, so don't be scared if only one of the front wheels spin)

My brother has thrown two center diffs and the same thing happened each time. I bet the center diff went before the transfer case.
