ECU question.

I searched earlier trying to find out how you can tell what car an ECU is out of. The reason for this is i found 2 ecu's in my car and not one of them was connected. 1 i have misplaced for the time being the other i just found out is an Eprom ecu. I dont want to change anything on the car to make the ecu work is why i am asking, so if its a 91+ then it will be for sale. Is there any marking, date stamp, or something on the ECU to show what year car it is for?

how you can tell what car an ECU is out of?

The ECUs normally have a part number on the top of the case. MDsomething and the next line is E2Tsomething. You can look up the part number from my list http://simon.chi.il.us/ECU/ECUID.html

The last for digits on the E2T number will match the number printed on the white edge connector under the top case if the circuit board matches the case. If it doesn't you can use it to look up the part number and which car it car from.

Steve thank you very much for the info, I am at work right now so i am waiting on my room mate to send me the numbers. Good to see the 5 pages of threads on ECU's mentioning you know everything were correct.

Just got the number. Just to make sure i am not misreading it this shows it as a ECU out of a 90 correct?

you are correct, thats a 90.

Yes, that would be a Federal 90 Turbo AWD MT ECU. The last line is the version of the software found in EPROM versions of that model ECU.
