Hey there,
I've been searching though the dsmtuner/dsmtalk/2gnt forums for a couple of hours now regarding the fitment of the "Enkei RPM2" rims @ 18x8. Although I've found a couple threads on these wheels, I just don't understand the impact of the offset (yes, I've looked at vfaq and etc.) From what I've gathered, I'll most likely need 225/40/18 tires? as well as adjusting my negative camber and possibly some fender rolling.
The following will be the setup of the car at the time the wheels will be installed:

1999 Eclipse OZ edition
--Full Coilover's [adjustible]
---Probably close to a 1.5in drop [Depends on wheel/tire fitment]
--Camber Adjustment Kit

My question is; Will I need the +35mm offset or the +45mm offset? I'm also willing the change the width / profile of the tire going on the rim [235's?]. My main goal is to have the least amount of adverse effects on the ODO/SPEEDO/FENDER's while having the tires close to flush but dosen't have to be perfect. Like I said before, I'm willing to "roll" the fenders but I'd like to avoid it if possible. Any input and/or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris:dsm:

35 mm will stick out. 45mm is closer to stock but will tuck under the car. If you want them to sit flush, you need to go with something close to 39 or 40mm offset. And you should be able to run a 235-40-18 on the car without issues.

By how much would they stick out/tuck in? If by something small, like 2-3mm, which isn't that bad, would 235's still be appropiate? When you say a 39-40mm offset would cause them to be flush, thats only when the rims are 8w correct? Sorry, I'm just not that great with the tire/wheel sizes/options.

Chris.

About a quarter inch. Not noticeable from most angles but you would definitely need to roll your fenders regardless of the tire size.

I know its ultimately my choice but, Which would you prefer if it were your car--Street driven, almost daily... tucked in, or sticking out? Is there a noticible performance difference? Also, will there be a noticible error in my speedo with these wheels?

Thanks in advance!
Chris.

We're talking about a 10mm difference, hardly the difference between "tucked in, or sticking out."

Is there a noticible performance difference?
Technically, yes, wider is better. Again, it's only a small amount. You'll likely never be able to perform a handling test that is accurate enough to show a difference.

You'll be going an mph or two more than the speedo shows. Not enough to mount any sort of defence in traffic court.

Haha, I wouldn't try anything of the sort :sneaky: but, you know, so when some blue n' white fuzz pulls up behing me and tailgates, I know what I'm actually doing. Thanks for all the help. Now comes the tough part, finding and buying all my parts.

Thanks again
Chris
