n tuesday the 2nd of january I am going to promotion tuning in fredericksburg Va to get my car tuned. It is the first time I have ever had a car dyno tuned and I am stoked. I'm finaly stopping all this bolt ons crap and looking for real power!!! ROFL LOL ok so not that much its only an evo III 16g with full supporting mods but whatever. One quick question, I have been told that with my mods I should be able to tune to 18-20 psi safely. dowes that sound right for a 16g car on pump gas (93 octane)? i have a walboro 190 fuel pump , 550 injectors, fmic, 2.5" hard pipes" 2.5" downpipe, 3 inch exaughst/ highflow catback, MBC, 264 camshafts, ported head, manifolds, turbo, SAFC, etc. thanks in advance and wish me luck!!!!

You should be able to go up to about 24psi. Just make sure you aren't knocking and watch your injector duty cycle.

24psi? hmmmm, well i run my car everyday on the street. should i go for an all out tune (Clsoe to 24 psi) or lower 20-22 if 24 is max. Oh and the shop i am tuning at is using a full logger. wideband o2 and gizzmos(still semi new to newer tuning technology carbuerators are easier but lack the power and fuel economy).thanks for the quick reply.

On pump gas and just a SAFC I would expect more than 17-20psi. In all my experience's on the 16g is the housing is just to small, so it heats up the air to much and is not that efficient on pump gas. Without timing control you are going to be seeing 22* or more by redline and this will be your problem. With dsmlink or timing control you could get some more boost. My brother can run about 20psi on pump before seeing knock at 24* timing. Tuned with Greddy and he has timing control. All other mods are same as you. He made 300whp and 300lbt at 17psi. He now runs 19psi on the same tune with no knock.

well i went to the dyno at promotion tuning. we swapped over to the 550cc injectors and starpped it on the dyno. The technician tred to tune out fuel cut using the safc but could not get rid of it. I was heartbroken because i was soo excited about finally getting my car dynoed and tuned. We did a boost leak test and low and behold leaks everywhere!!! After sometime fixing broken welds and tightening clamps I brought my car back to the shop. it ran flawlessly. I made 292.10 hp and 263.34 tq. The torque seems a lil low but on the final run we kept losing the tach signal in the upper rpms. I am very satisfied with how the car runs and feels. Oh and all this was at 15 psi!!!ROFL Many thanks to all the wisemen on the forum, and to all who have ever answered any of my questions. And most of all Thank you to all the noobs out there like me who ave ever posted a question, with out the threads started by you and the answers that the dsm comunity provided my car would most likely be an aluminum can or a new rim for a new car by now.

i am running a hacked 1g maf. The tech said he could tune my setup all the way up to 22-23 psi but i asked him not to. he gave me the "safe settings" to adjust my safc to when i set it that high at the track. for the street however 15 psi and nearly 300whp is finee with me. I made this descion based on necesity.

The 1g maf hacked is good for 300hp and thats pushing it. I would still go with a 2g maf for room to grow and you wont risk hitting fuel cut. Just from a cold day with dense air it could cause you to cut if you at that limit. 300hp is real good at 15psi, but you can run 17-20psi safely.
