heres my question, if you do a timing belt swap w/all new pulleys and you line them all up right (that what i was told by the shop that did the swap), then 300 miles later you sipn a bearing on the first cylinder(oil pump pulley was off of the timing mark) what could have happend?

Oil pump out of phase will create unwanted vibrations due to the fact that it drives the rear balance shaft but should not cause oiling problems.

well the said the belt was all lined up but when i was there to watch the oil puyyel was not lined up, i was billed for timing belt, blanacer belt, timing belt adjuster, water pump, oil seal, crankshaft oil seal, engine oil-oil seal, tensioner bearing b-shaft 2g, balance shaft seal, crankshaft pulley, headgasket, coolant and oil

i also fogot to mention ther was a taping noise since the day i picked it up untill the day it made a loud bang and stoped working

nope. they said it would go away after about 100 miles.but it never did. they also replaced the headgasket at the same time (was a little leak in cylinder 1 or 4 nd the compression of the engine was blowing pressure into the cooliing system)

The reason Im saying this is because I just did the timing belt on my car last weekend. Except for the fact that I removed the balance shafts, we did the same thing but I spent a long time getting all those marks to line up perfectly and my car ran great so they obviously did something wrong. Chances are they may have misaligned the cam gears or they didnt align the crankshaft correctly so it could of been firing slightly early putting a lot of stress on the bearings.

All the work was done with the engine in the car?

Did the oil pan come off the block during ANY of the work?

300 miles?

Was the "tapping noise" variable with rpm? Did the mechanic bleed down the lifters before installing the belt and other components?

Usually a turned bearing points to:

1. Lack of oil

Which is caused by.....

Drain plug fell out
Low Oil Level in the Pan
Zero to little oil pressure
Massive Oil Leaks Internal or External
Coolant mixed in with Oil
Galley, or orfice blocked off/plugged with trash
Oil Pickup clogged with gasket trash metal shavings

There are far too many variables here to know anything for sure, except the Repair Shops' work failed miserably.....File a Claim against them...

I would like to add "disabled PCV system" to that list due to higher concerntration of fuel and other contaminates from blow by.
