I just got an HKS SSQV. I put it on and it sounds amazing, but the needle in the back. I never really understood how those work. I know it loosens or stiffens something but what? Please help.
Thanks, Brandon

The needle adjusts the ease of which the BOV will blow off. If you have the needle all the way loose it will blow off at the slightest pressure. Tighten it down and it will BOV at more significant pressure differences. I prefer mine to be all the way lose to increase turbo life.

It also depends on how much boost you are running. If you back it off so it is as loose as possible and run 20 Psi it might leak under WOT.

Actually the ssqv WILL not leak it is a pull design meaning that the vaccum created by the intake manifold will cause it to open also, I run 16-20 and have just taken the screw out and I have not had any leaking but I should check it soon. Later

The SSQ has a flange that you have to stickmit in and put a piston ring type thing in. It snaps into a ring around the flange and has not leakage at all. The RS has bolt on type flang if i'm not mistaken. I would just get a flange from ebay for 10 bucks. I'm not sure if your pipe is aluminum but if it is make sure you check out different flanges. The one i bought was a cast aluminum. It was crazy hard to weld on. They do make steel ones too.

I was going up my street last night and when i got off under about 12-13 boost i heard a loud pop sound from under the hood. The car ran like crap and i shut it off and checked it out. My pipe came off of the thorttle body elbo. I just loosened the hose clamp and put it back in. On my way home it happens again under like 7 psi. I didn't even know it happened till i would go on the throttle and it would go till about 2000 rpm. I thought the clutch was just slipping like mad. Does anyone know a quick way to fix it as is or do i need to buy an elbo. The thing is i made my uip. Would i need to custom make an elbo? Do they sell the flange so i can just weld on some pipe to fit it?

it depends...is anything BROKE or is it just a loose connection? if nothing is broken and it was working fine before, you shouldnt need to fab up any new parts...just replace the worn/faulty parts

Why is this sooo off topic? You should have made your own thread about this.

Anyway, to answer your question, just put a bead of jbweld or roll a bead around the end of the intercooler pipe and use a tbolt clamp and that should solve your problem.
