Just a bit of curiosity I need satisfied here. All the threads I search out say that a torque converter is the best performance mod you can do for your auto car yada yada yada. My question is why? What is it going to do for me? I understand it gives you the ability to have a higher rpm when brake boosting hence you can spool a bigger turbo sitting on the line. But what else do they do for you? I'm only running a 14B on my 2G FWD, I can get full boost on my stock converter which leads to a smoky sit in one place through second gear burnout as it is. So would I be wasting time and money upgrading to a higher stall converter or is there some other hidden advantage to having one?

if you plan on upgrading turbos soon than i'd say go for it. get a pair of slicks and you'd be str8 on that spin, haha. IMO best upgrade for the auto trans is translab shift kit :)

My point exactly, I think my money is better spent on some cheap 15" rims and a set of slicks.

Speed Mods14B ported, Apex Downpipe, Apex N1 (no cat), Hallman MBC (15psi), Apex power intake w/BOV dump tube mod, david brode UICP, 1G BOV, homemade hard LICP, SAFC II, datalogger, sport comp boost gauge

do u need a fuel pump? i have a evo8 pump give ya some more fuel :) let me kno. seems like you have a very similiar setup to what i had on my gsx before i strip'd it down for when i leave in jan. for iraq. besides i upgrade the UICP to a full xspower fmic kit, shift kit and trans cooler too. if not slicks put a drag radial on it

I'm runnin 17psi on the 14B which I'd guess to be about max efficiency, I could probably squeeze one or two more psi out of it before it starts blowing hot air. I have all the knock tuned out on the stock fuel system so I don't really need the bigger pump, thanks though. I'm actually buying a house so all frivolous spending on my toys (car/bike) has come to a stop, what I have now is what I have to work with LOL. If I were still buying things a pump/injectors/fmic would be the next purchases followed by a 50 trim and converter :thumb: Best of luck to you in Iraq what's your MOS? I was an MP in the reserve (army) but for some reason we never got activated. I applaud your service though, not many people have the nerve to do what you're about to do.
