My driver side lock is so screwed up. i can easily turn it to the left which doen't unlock the door but turning to the right will break the damn key. it is so hard to turn and at first it like slowly made its way and if you get it to open now it is a miracle. do you think it froze or did thelock mechanism go bad. i wonder if anyone tinkered with it.

mine was doing this still is some times I think they come loose because I hit mine and then turned it and it worked, then the next day I just pushed inward on the handle really hard and it worked. so after that I discovered that is seemed loose a little so I gave it a little pop with my palm and it works better now. But I havent had time to take the door apart and actually look at it.

Most people will probably flame me for this, but I fixed my jammed up locks with WD40 :) A week of soaking the inside of the lock. I even got my trunk lock to work with this method. However, mine were just gummed up, if there's something wrong with the mechanism you may want to hit the auto wreckers. Hard to find good ones though.

If you cant find good lock replacement id suggest shaving your door handles, thats what i ended up doing just last weekend, actually. Looks great and popping them open never gets old.

It can be caused by key wear as much as lock wear. A good locksmith -one in a real lock shop, not the dimwit at Ace Hardware- will know how to compensate for years of use. Always have a locksmith cut your keys, always have him cut two, always carry them both in separate pockets, and always run them naked. Save the boat anchors, mini crack flame thrower, picture of the dog, shrunken head ring bauble and bottle cap remover for the ring your house key's on.
