I know, I know, I know there are hundereds of threads on this subject and I have been searching a lot. My question is: Instead of installing a block off plate for the egr and taking the whole unit out, could I just unhook the two vacuum lines that go to it? By doing this, would it have the same effect as just putting a block off plate in?
-thanks

Yes, you can, and it will look like you have an EGR valve if a visual inspection is needed. What i would do is take a section of hose about 10 inches long, hook both ends to the EGR valve, and wrap the excess behind the intake so it looks like its hooked up, but really its not.
