i just put on my 1g bov, the thing that i noticed that wasnt happening with the stock one is that when im boostin, i can hear the turbo spolling and then when i stay on it there is a higher pich whistle, not just the one that you would hear normally. im just wondering because it was a pain, but it is on there corretly. could it be that the recirculation tube is not on there correctly? any one that can answer this for me i would appriciate it.

How do you have the BOV mounted? Do you have it on a hard UICP or just put into the stock pipe?

sounds like a boost leak to me


do a boost leak test and let us know.

the stock 1g bov is pretty quiet could be a boost leak like they were saying.

I agree it could be the 1g BOV. Mine did this too.

Other whistling sounds can be your turbo, specifically the impeller blades rubbing on the compressor housing. Check the shaft play by taking off the intake and grab the turbo's center shaft-- move it in and out and up and down to see if there is any excessive play. Mine did this high pitched "whistle" right before it gave out (taking a few impeller blades with it). The noise tends to be more prevalent before the car warms up in cold weather.

I would definitely do a boost leak test. Did you say that the recirc tube isn't hooked up (aka BOV is vented)? Not good. But do a leak test. I started from the throttle body elbow and worked my way back. It helps eliminate areas.

its recirculated, i have it on the stock UICP, and im pretty new to the whole turbo deal, so i dont really know how to do a boost leak test
