Hey guys I bought a 91tsi awd with everything except a running a motor. A local is selling a 7 bolt bottom end with a 1g head for a really good price. Can it be done?

it can be done but its pointless if 7bolts have crankwalk issues unless its a 1g 7boltm but since your car is a 91 and orignally has a 6 bolt i would spend the time looking around, you can find the very easily. or if there isn't much wrong with your motor rebuilt it or find out whats wrong with it. but i wouldn't think of putting a 7 bolt in a 1g.

It can be done easliy. I got rid of my 7bolt for a 6bolt only minor changes. Like he said find a 6bolt do that, but if you can get the 7bolt for cheap buy it too and have extra parts. If you find a 6bolt without a head you can use the 7bolt head. You just will have to drill out the holes in the head for 12mm cause the 7 bolt is 11mm. Thats what I did cause my 7 bolt head was reworked.
