I just purchased the Cable end Shifter bushings, and I installed them, but now my shifter cable broke, and its stuck in gear... 4th gear as a matter of fact... I can still drive it, but I had to ride the clutch the whole time, until it was cruising speeds for 4th gear... which really sucks... Now, is this something I can do myself, or do I have to take it to AAMCO to get it out of gear and install the new cable or what? I live by 12 different Auto Repair shops, so fixing it wont be a problem, just that can I do it myself? I have all the reference books, a Haynes Manual, Chilton manual, the DSM Manual Cd, and this, Tuners of course... I already have almost my whole console and my intake and my IC piping off just to make it easier... I really need everyone's help and input on this...

I have the new cables, and the stock shifter I am going to install... I broke the B&M shifter, dont ask me how, I just did, now the side to side play is ungodly... So there should be any problems as far as getting it out of gear right?

To get the car out of gear you can remove the cables on the transmission levers. Then move the levers by hand until you find nuetral. (the car will roll when you find it).

You should be able to do this yourself. I am still confused as to what has actually broken, The shifter itself or the cables?

The Cables broke at the bushing ring, then the steel line snapped, I can send you a detailed picture, it wont let me upload it here... I got the new stock shifter, and the new cables too... The short throws are too much, and I miss the stock feel, and I am keeping the Symborski kit and the end bushing on there... I am still trying to get the cables out... I have the console apart, the shifter out, and the cables detached from the tranny, but I can get them of of the mount they are on... any more suggestions?

Apparently, the shifter cables from the GS-T I bought wont work on a GSX... The one cable that is broke is about 1 1/2 inch shorter than the one I had on mine. It was of a 97 GS-T at a local junkyard, and they said they it would fit... but with time, trial, and error, it doesnt fit... I can send anyone pictures if they want to see...

I had double checked on CAPS, and I called the Local Mitsu Dealer. The part numbers are MD770982, the Models are D32A 2wdTurbo, D33A AwdTurbo. They said the cables are the same, so I have no clue why as to mine didnt fit... I double checked with the Lot I got them from, and yes, they were off of a 97 GS-T, 4g63 setup. I am doing some more research now... Thanks for all your help guys...
