I am replacing the clutch and i am planning to remove the balance shafts, change the timing belt, and do the engine mounts. Is there anything else you would suggest i do while i have room in the engine bay?

Also is it possible to take the tranny out with the car on jackstands?

Thanks,
Jared

Yes you can take out just the transimssion with the car on jackstands. I would suggest you to resurface the flywheel (or replace it with a lightened one) and the TOB. wouldn't hurt to replace the clutch line with a braided piece either.

Heres what i replaced when i did mine the other day.
clutch plate and disc
fidanza flywheel
stainless clutch line
axle seals
oem mitsubishi tob
tranny fluid with something good i used royal purple syncromax.
and if you havent already i would check out your slave and master cylinder. i replaced mine about 8 months ago.

Definitely yes on the seals, both rear crank and (2) axle seals, new flywheel bolts, fuel filter, (2) heater hoses, OEM TOB.

The job can be done in the garage on jack stands.......it kind of sucks, but can be done........make sure you have a buddy on hand when it's time to stab the tranny and axles, it'll save a lot of cussing.

Where's the best place to pick up the seals, shift fork, boot, flywheel bolts, and fuel filter, and TOB (oem).

Also how hard is it to replace the rear and crank seal?

How hard is it to replace the Axle seals?

Will i need any special tools to replace the seals?

When checking the slave and master cylinder what am i looking for (how do i check them)?

Thanks

I get mine at the dealer as I get a pretty good discount through them.......San Rafael is one of our vendors that offers members a discount....

or just shop around.

After you remove the clutch and flywheel, it's right there. A small screwdriver will "pick" the seal out. Just be careful not to scratch the shaft surface of the crank. Then "drive" the new seal in place (one of the water pump pulleys works, i don't recall which, since you're doing a TB job).

Before you put the tranny back in, replace the axle seals.....same as above only with these you don't have a shaft you're worrying about "scarring".

No special tools....a small and medium size screwdriver, a rubber mallet/hammer, and something to drive the seal in with.....

On the slave...pull the rubber boot back, if you see fluid....it's bad. On the master....pull the carpet back behind the pedal area...if you see fluid dripping/draining...it's bad. The master is a PITA no matter if the tranny is installed or not. The slave is fairly easy no matter if the tranny is installed or not.
