i'm still breaking in my car. but i have a question on how much is my max boost? i should be higher than stock since i have a turbo back and a exhaust manifold. i have no boost controller at all. don't need one if i'm running around 17-20psi. my specs: k&n filter, evo 3 16g turbo, evo 3 manifold, 2g o2 housing, FMIC, turbo back 3" apex downpipe, no cat, and apex n1 exhaust. some magazine said i should be running 17 psi but people around here is telling me i should be around 12 psi.

Everyone is correct, you difinitely need a boost gauge and controller to monitor yours boost. When buying a boost gauge and controller, make sure you get quality. Kid here at tech had to learn the hard way, spiking to 23psi on a stock setup makes a nice noise. :thumb:

You do understand that the WG controls max boost, correct? Simply adding parts like an exhaust and mani doesn't increase max boost.

i have no boost controller at all.
I recommend that you get one, and get a gauge too.

That depends on the WG actuator spring. I don't know what your particular actuator's is, but you should get a gauge and MBC to be sure. Then you can also set it differently if you need to.

The OEM max boost was around 12psi, and without fuel upgrades, 16-17psi is the most you should attempt to run.

EVO 3 16g actuators are right at 12psi give or take for boost creep. Don't ever go by what a magazine says.

i do have a boost gauge. just never listed under mods. i'm still breaking in my turbo and boost only to 4-6 psi or so. don't drive much.

WTF ???? Then what is the point of this thread, if you already know what your boosting? You are just contradicting yourself here; asking what you are boosting with mods, that don't even have anything to do with controlling boost, and posting that you do have a boost gauge.

Are you asking what you should run or what you will be running after reading this entire thread im very confused by what you want to know.

i'm asking before i full throttle the car. how much boost i'm running. since i'm still breaking it in. if it's too much then i will have some problems and maybe blow my motor since i got over 200k on it. if it's under 14psi then i should have no problems. sorry for the miss up. i boosted it to 8 psi yesterday and let go scared it might go alot higher.

Hook a vacuum line straight from the J pipe to the wastegate. That will run wastegate pressure, 12lbs. You will be find on 12lbs. It's nothing for these motors. I run 23 daily on a completely stock motor and bigger turbo with no worries. With your exhaust you may get some creep but unlikely with using the stock wastegate actuator. Once again you will be fine.

There is no break in time on a turbo.

Look at your boost gauge and see what you are boosting at wot. This thread has become a spin off of bench racing which is against the rules.

Your lack of capitalization is also against the rules.
