so i got 2 running engines ....

so i picked up to engines but need some advise on what to do. i just want to be reliable for daily driving and the other i want to start to building up. witch engine should i do what to ?

one has new head gasket new timing belt and arp head studs 110k on it

the other has new alternater new timing belt but the oil pres is super low bad oil pump im asuming (sp)

should i just replace the oil pump and use that one for daily driving or start to rebuild it id also like to know what should i go ahead and change on the engine im keeping stock. while its out to prevent it from breaking down. im not shure how long im keeping it in the car for might be a year or so. sorry if this sounds like a dumb ?

I'd perform a leakdown test on both engines to see what condition they are internally. Makes no sense to drop in an engine that looks good, but runs like dog poo. The engine that is in better condition based on the leakdown tests should be your candidate. Replace the bearings, seals, belts, and gaskets. Put the good accessories (alternator, PS pump, AC compressor) on that engine and drop it in.

If the engine with low oil pressure ends up being the one with better leakdown numbers, before you put anything together, make sure it's really because of a bad oil pump. That would really suck to put the engine back together with a new oil pump and find out that you still have low oil pressure.

can i do a leak down test with the engine not instaled ?

Yes. You will need a 1/4" breaker bar to turn the crank, and it'll probably be a PITA doing it with the engine on the floor, but as long as you still have the head sealed to the block, you can do a leakdown test.

I 2nd the leakdown test. If they both are in decent condition then consider if you really want a true daily driver or if you want a little extra power from both
