Juiced up alternator?!?!

Anyone have any experience with these people?

I found this alternator on ebay and i was wondering if its safe to use a 140 amp alternator? I saw 135 amp when i searched on here...i don't know if those extra 5 amps may push it too far.

I also searched how long of a task this is to replace. I only found a result for a 1g and i was wondering how long it should take for a 2g and a rookie mechanic. What needs to be removed??
 
I really couldn't tell you about getting a high output alternator and what it might do because i havn't done it, but my car could sure as hell use a high output alternator.

I replaced mine, and im only 17, It's a lot easier to do it underneath the car, believe me. It took me about an hour and 15 minutes. Loosen the alternator adjustment bolt, pop the belt off, pop the 12 volt and ground wire off, Now loosen the bolt that holds the alternator, the bolt goes all the way through, so the alternator can pivot. You may also have to pop off your oil filter and the skirt thats under there to get to one of the bolts. But anyway, when your ready to take it out, REMOVE ## oil pressure sensor or u will more than likely break it from the weight and awkwardness of the alternator and all the twists and angles you have to put it in to get it out. HAVE FUN!
 
You can always put in a higher amperage alternator as long as it fits properly and has the same wire connectors. The current draw is independent of the alternator's rating (ie. if the car needs 50A it will draw 50A whether you have a 75A or 1000A alternator).

For alternator (alt) removal:
All nuts/bolts are 12mm so get a 12mm socket w/rachet, a 2" and 12" extension, and 12mm box end wrench. Disconnect one battery terminal. Remove inner splash shield from under car next to alt and oil filter cooler (so there is room to pull bottom alt mounting bolt out). Remove fan in front of alt to give more clearance for it's removal. Pull out alt electrical connector while pressing locking tab (wiggle and press and pull hard). Undo nut that holds large electrical cable onto alt and remove cable (this is hot so tape wire up so it will not touch anything and don't let wrench touch metal - in case battery gets reconnected before its back on). Remove upper adjustor locking bolt that holds alt to brace and loosen tensioner screw (see pic below). If you can now push alt back enough to remove belt off it's pulley do so. Remove alt bottom mounting bolt nut (just above oil filter - remove filter if need to). Drive out lower alt mounting bolt (that you just took nut off). Remove alt drive belt off pulley if haven't yet. Remove alt by wriggling it back and forth a lot while pulling hard. Bring alt out bottom (Note: Can bring alt out top but power steering pump and bracket has to be removed first). Pic below shows alt with tensioner (power steering pump is removed).

Push what too far? An amp isn't going to put out any more than the system draws from it. A larger alternator will just have more wire inside it that the motor has to spin.

Oh i didn't know that i thought if it was higher power it would have a better chance of frying something. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
