Alright, to make a long story short, I bought a car from Goode's Automotive in Newport News (my 95 GSX). The guy told me that it had a greddy turbo on it right before i bought it, and he lied (its a 15g, TD04HL. I had him replace the engine right after I bought the car because I blew it 5 mins after I drove it off the lot (NOT my fault, i didn't even get on it). About a week ago I noticed smoke coming from under the hood, and I looked under there, it's coming from under the cover on the front of the exhaust manifold (turbo area). I think the turbo might be blown, but I need a professional opinion. If thats the case, I'm thinking about replacing the turbo, or maybe even just selling the car... but first I'd like to have a REPUTABLE mechanic who knows DSM's look at it. Do any of you know one, preferably somewhere in the virginia beach area, or maybe even norfolk?

Hmm was anything spilled in that area like oil ,grease, whatever, that could've just burned off? If your turbo is gone your exhaust should be smoking pretty good. See any smoke, if so what color?

no i haven't seen any smoke really coming out of the exhaust, besides what i think is just normal smoke because its cold as s**t outside and i can see exhaust from everyones car... i'm gonna go wash out the engine bay, and try and drive it around again and see what happens. I hope its just oil :barf:

Try precision auto in Cheaspeke...Ross has done good work for me...

820 Greenbrier Cir, Unit 15

I don't have the number with me though...should be in the phone book..

thanks cal, i'll be sure to find out what that # is... go figure i was out at greenbrier earlier today with my buddy at the dodge dealership and the mall, damnit.

I'd start by purchasing a new manifold gasket(s) (cheap), removing the manifold heat shield, look at it and decide if you think there is an exhaust leak where the manifold bolts to the turbo/head. Then depending on your gut feeling unbolt the thing and replace the gasket(s).

If you still need it looked at feel free to come by. It most likley somthing simple. The number to the shop is 757-424-1918 also me cell is 757-621-1423. Some times it can be hard to hear the phone when I am in the back of the shop so please do not get affended if I do not answer. Just leave a measge and I wil get back intouch with you as soon as i can. Oh and thank you Calico for the refrence.
