This is kind of a long story ill try to make as short as possible. About 6 months ago i started the process of rebuilding my engine. I tore the block down myself had all the machine work down (including aligne hone) and bought the topline rebuild kit including the new crank. I had the head diassembled port and polished then bought all new valves, springs, lifters, cams ect. Basically i had bare block and head with brand new parts from top to bottom. I brought the parts to a shop with a good reputation and worked out a deal for them to assemble it for me. 6 months later i get a call that they are going out of buisness and my motor hadnt been touched. Now i have to find a shop or someone that could build or assist me in building this engine. I live in Maine so im looking for somone in the new england area. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas? its a 1g btw

Sorry to hear that. what should do is, check with some people that you see riding around and ask them where they got the work done. If you are having a shortage quality cars that done right, then check with guys that have muscle cars, and ask them what machine shop they used. The process isn't any different. the samething that they have to do to ours, they do to own motors.

As long as you are clear on what you want done to the motor you should have no problems.

I hope that helps you out.:thumb:

Exactly. Any competent machine shop should be able to fully prep and assemble your shortblock with correct tolerances and machining for you. The shop that built mine didn't have extensive experience in building 4G63's, but they took their time and made sure that everything was assembled correctly.

I like the idea of checking with the muscle car guys since they generally know all of the good machine shops in the area.

Good luck and keep us posted,

Andy

hey guys thanks for the quick response. So far i havent been able to locate any good machine shops in maine. Dont get me wrong theres guys that are great with v-8's but not many know about 4g63's. Im sure some of them could figure it out but im nervous since i have about 9k in this motor and turbo setup. Anybody know of any in the new england area?
