I am getting my motor put in this weekend and i was told that i should buy a new o2 sensor. I was just wondering what is the point ot replacing it. I works fine now. I say if its not broke don't fix it

Make sure it works fine. Log your o2 voltage and make sure it cycles properly. If you dont have a way to log then just buy a new one.

Another thing to keep in mind also is that as the O2 sensor ages they tend to slow down and not work at a 100%. This over time can cause you to see a decrease in fuel mileage. I am trying to remember what they recommend for replacement, I think it was 100,000 miles. And also to why are you putting in a new motor. Did the old one blow up. I have seen blown headgaskets reek havoc on sensors and oil build up from blow by getting thru the exhaust. Just offering more info as to why they might recommend replacement. Travis
