OK, i have the evo3 16g, it only has about 2000 miles on it, and it is a great little turbo,
but I want more, what is recommended as 1 step up from the evo,
I know the evo3 is capable of 8.0 second 1/8 mile times but I want to run 7.5 second 1/8 mile.
I have all the mods to support a bigger turbo, dsmlink, 780 injectors, slow boy header, ported head, 3"exhaust 220 walbro FPR, 3 inch exhaust wide band, 280 cams, act 2600 clutch , adjustable cam gears, JoeP MBC, etc. etc etc

yeah, I am considering the 20g it is a proven solid performer, but some would say it is old technology, not to mention kinda pricy,
i am curious about the dual ball bearing 50 trim, that slow boy racing sells.
but I dont want a hole lot of turbo lag. and i still dont understand sizing on most turbos.

I stepped up to a PTE dual ball bearing 50 trim from my e16g and loved it. It really wakes up past 20psi compared to the e16g. Back when I had stock cams and a cyclone intake manifold I was seeing full boost in the low to mid 3000 range.

If that is a big big for you, there is always an 18g.

no 3300-3500 is where I want full boost at. the BB 50 trim was my fist choice over a 16g so I ordered it and a month later I still hadent received it, so I called the company and was told it was on a 3 month back order and they talked me into a 16G, i guess you live and learn.

you stated when you had stock cams and a cyclone intake intake you had boost by low/mid 3000s,
What do you get boost at now and what did you change?
I also had the cyclone intake and replaced it with a stock 1g
and I am running the new GSC 280 cams.

I get 30psi by maybe 3800ish now.

Changes made were Magnus SMIM and 264/272 cams. The cams alone didn't effect spoolup as much as I thought they would, but the SMIM took a good chunk out of it. The top end power was alot better, but at the expense of some low end.

The cyclone intake manifold is only worth it when its hooked up properly, I had mine activated by DSMLink to open all the runners at above 40% throttle at 3350rpm.

I get full boost 27-30 pounds by 38-39 aswell but I have the standard bearing 50trim. I have a smim and fp2x cams aswell to dampen my spoolup but the top end does hit beautifully. What compression are you running? Mine are 8.5 just curious I have been curious how differently spool up is between the standard and bb how drastic it was. Also what a/r is your 50 a little bigger maybe?

I'm running 9:1 compression with a .63 turbine A/R. I am also running E85 which takes a bit away from spoolup (still working on tuning issues). The ball bearing helps pretty good with spoolup, but where it really shines is transient response. When shifting gears I really don't lose any boost at all, its instantly there.

Black GSX2g do you have any dragstrip or Gtech times, i'm trying to figure out what times the DBB 50 trim is capable of.

It will get you into the mid 11s with ease. The last time I actually got a timeslip at the track was at the beginning of the summer with stock intake manifold, no cams (well stock cams), and around 18-19psi on crappy tires. It netted me around 116mph in the 1/4 which is good for a high 11 slip, I just couldn't get traction off the line. All the runs I've had with my current set-up have all been win-lose eliminations with no time clock.
