cooling fan problems

when my engine temperature reaches normal the cooling fan suppose to kick in but it doesn't. Instead it slowly goes past normal about 3/4 of the way but it doesn't reaches hot. The needle pretty much just stays there. I replaced the fuse already but after about 24 hours later it blew up again. A friend of my brother told me to unplug the cooling fan, put a new fuse in and see what'll happen. About a couple hours later the fuse blew and my brother's friend told me its not the fan. The thermostat and water has been replaced. So what could be the problem? And how much do the parts cost? Is there way to troubleshoot the problem?

if you look in your shop manual it'll have procedures for troubleshooting the cooling fans. i believe there's a relay in the black box in the engine compartment on the drivers side you can take out, jump 2 connections, and check that both fans come on. if they both run i believe you can try replacing the relay, or checking the temp sensors. if you haven't already, just spring for a shop manual. you don't absolutely have to have the manufacturer's book, and you'll easily save enough time to justify the $15-20 you spent.
