So I plan on getting a 50 trim or a 60-1 in the future, haven't decided yet. What are the supporting mods that have to go with it. I know I will need 255 fuel pump, FPR, 850cc injectors, FMIC. Is that it ? BTW, I already have 3 in downpipe, 3 in catback and a KN FIPK filter.
Should I get an internal or external wastegate ? Instead of getting a SAFC or dsmlink, could I just take my car to a performance shop and let them tune it ?

Thanks, DJS

You need DSMlink or something so they can tune it. I would go with dsmlink since you may already have an eprom since you are a 95. External is better and you would need a wastegate and a mani to put it on. Sounds like you hit everything you need.

Definately go with an external wastegate, you will regret now doing that. That is one of the main reasons why I am getting away from my 16G and going with an externally gated 50 trim or 60-1 (besides making more power).

I agree with JayRolla also on DSMLink. It' just a good idea to go ahead and go that way. I will be swapping over to it from an AFCII. It' just easier to tune with software that incorporates everything into one program instead of having to log with a data logger and turn around and tune with the AFC. Plus, you have a lot of other features on DSMLink like antilag and a stutterbox built in as well as the ability to control timing that you can't do with an AFC.

couldn't I just take it to a shop and let them tune it ? That way I wouldn't need a dsmlink.

What would they tune, the stock ECU? You need to remove the stock EPROM, install the DSMlink coded EPROM which allows for tuning. Or the shop may use their DSMLink cables, put in the DSMlink EPROM or copy in and tune it. But then they are violating all kinds of copyright laws let alone stealing money from the good folks at DSMLink. Other option is to install some sort of KeyDriver chip.

Either way you need to have the ECU rechipped.... and its going to cost you several hundred.

Also verify that you do indeed have an EPROM...not all 95's are EPROM... just generally they are.

I will disagree with you. Both my internally gated G50 and BB5031 turbos were internally gated and holds boost just fine. I ran 21 psi on my G50 and am currently running 24.5 psi on my 5031. No boost spike, no creep, etc. They were also both hand ported by myself.

Of course, if you have the funds to do so, external is definitely the way to go. My .02 is just that it is not completely necessary.

Agree'd A properly setup Internal gate works just fine. :thumb:

you need something to control fuel so they can adjust the fuel trims. The shop can tune it but they need something to tune with. You need either dsmlink, or a safc. You can have a custom tune burned to your eprom but you will never beable to change it and a shop cant do that.
