i was reading on the turbo forum that you can get max performance on low boost with the right head setup. well right now im running on the stock 14b with a walbro 255. in the near future i will be getting some hks 550's along with a bushcer afpr. but before i do anything with my head or cams. i decided that when i decide to upgrade from my 2g cams im going to just redo my entire head/valvetrain. just wondering what i should look into for turbo, head, and cams.

What are you power goals? You wont get very high with just 550's. Im pretty sure the 16G will max those by itself without the help of cams. If we knew what kind of power you were hoping to run it would give a better idea as to what you would need to reach that number.

Lets give you an estimate of 350hp
pre-list
1. data logger
2. boost guage
3. boost controller
4. exhaust

hp list
1. 50 trim of some sort.
2. 650cc injectors
3. AFPR
4. Fuel management (porbably DSMlink)
5. Clutch

You might want to try and run 13's first then 12's. getting into the 11's takes alot of work. A pocket logger is not a tuning device. If you go with DSMlink, that acts as a logger. SAFT or similar and you will need a logger to go with it. the 350hp stated above will net you high 12s if your a good driver. any more than 400hp (which you will probably need to hit 11s) and a complete rebuild with forged internals is a really really good idea. All of this is assuming you have ALL your maintenance complete. Read the upgrade paths on the home page for more info.

Making more power at a lower boost level is highly correlated with your engine's volumetric efficiency. Thus, anything that increases VE will help make more power (this may be obvious). This increases port work, cams, TB, SMIM, etc.
