Guys can someone tell me what is all the air that rushes out after i run my car a bit (spool up some ,run kinda hard) and then when I open my gas cap for fuel air just blows out. I hope its not bad:notgood: that would suck. My car runs like Hell:thumb: so thats a good thing....just wondering. Thanks:talon:

The air in your engine bay is most probably a boost leak or a busted intercooler pipe or coupler.

The air in your gas tank is vapors from your fuel. Did you remove your charcoal canister and block it off? If you did, it would do that. I plan to take my charcoal canister out so I drilled a small hole in my gas cap. Well, I don't have a gas cap, I have this - http://stant.com/brochure.cfm?brochure=3089&location_id=3755

As for my hole (before anyone asks), on stant's website, it states:
"According to Sun Oil research, a missing or defective fuel cap can allow as much as 176 pounds of gasoline vapors (22 gallons) to evaporate into the atmosphere each year. At $3 per gallon, that adds up to over $65 per year. Have you had your gas cap checked recently?"

I can live with losing $5 worth of gas every week instead of having fuel spray in my eyes due to a blocked off charcoal canister line.

^^^^Cool looking cap...........I guess I would fall into the "lazy MF" (time-saver) category that doesn't want to do anymore work than I have to.

LOL
I know! I love it. I was looking at my stock gas cap to drill a hole  and I couldn't find one. Then I saw this cap at Advanced/Discount Auto and I was :D.

I'm still a little worried about my car blowing up if someone hits me though. I'm not sure if the 1mm hole I drilled is big enough for fuel vapors to get out.

yep when i get gas i usualy lets her ger to a 16th of a tank. So if I give it hell I get a huge flow of air when I take the cap off but no gas in my face....Ha

Race fans: Fill up like NASCAR does during a pit stop.

Yeh. Anyway, a loose gas cap can trip a CEL.

How's that cap work out in the real world? Does it let you jab in the nozzle and go check the oil, or do you have to hold it? Do you have vapor recover nozzles around where you are, that try like hell to push themselves off the filler?

As for the gas tank pressurizing itself, I think that's a circumstance of the returned fuel from the FI system having been warmed by its trip to the engine compartment. I've not encountered any splash-back when stopping to fill up, just like a pit stop. Rolleyes, again.

ROFL ROFL

In the real world (I've only filled up once), you have to hold it while you pump. I don't think it has any "vapor recover nozzles". I did find out that I have to pump fuel slowly, which sucks because it took me 5 minutes to pump 10 gallons last time.

As for the gast tank pressurizing itself, are you saying that even with a blocked off vent line after having the charcoal canister removed, will not pressurize the system enough to encounter splash back? If yes, I'll just get a vented cap.

I coould not honestly tell ya if the canister is in. I didnt remove it, the guy before me might have.

Eww. Stone knives and bearskins.

Not the cap, but the nozzle on the gas pump. I presume you don't have them there (see pic). It's a rubber bellows that's spring-loaded, and tried its damnedest to kick the nozzle out of the car.

Just like NASCAR, eh?
