6 bolt swap

I'm looking to buy a 97 GSX with mods already done to the car. I want to do a 6 bolt swap and was wondering about how much for a 6 bolt motor or rebuilt? Is is something I can do myself without much experience? How much would it cost for the conversion kit (saw one off slowboyracing for $2000?WTF)? And how much for the install if I had a shop do it for me(got quoted from turbotrix in Edision, NJ for $1650)WTF again? Thanks

Read up on that and it will give you an idea of what to do. Also use the search feature. This has been discussed tons of times. It is there for a reason and needs to be used more often.

Yea, I searched before I posted the questions and I got those links among others. I was more wondering if the two price quotes I got were fair? The conversion kit and install.

There is no such thing as a conversion kit. You have to make modifications to the cam angle sensor wiring and left motor mount in addition to needing a 6 bolt flywheel. People usually charge around $1000 for the swap and shops probably charge higher. Why are you concerned about doing the swap before you even buy the car?

I just want to make sure if I get this car I can do the swap and it's not going to cost a lot of money, because there are other dsms for sale with the swap already done.

That kit is for the guy who has deep pockets and can't source out used stuff that should come with the motor anyways.
