Well today must have been my lucky day. My good friend gave me a 90-94 AWD downpipe becuase his megan downpipe came in. Now my question is I have a 90 FWD GST. How hard would it be to convert this AWD downpipe into a FWD downpipe. From looking at it it looks like I would have to lengthen the pipe some. If not I guess I'll sale it.

I'm not 100% sure about this but, I believe awd and fwd have different bends and different placement for the hangers. And if that's the case your getting yourself in some trouble with that little project. Btw, from what it sounds like, your friend got a megan dp and he's giving you his old stock one from his car??? I think if that's what being done, as far as performance goes, your not gaining anything, that's like getting a stock replacement part from advanced or something. But if the diameter of the awd is bigger and if it flows better than the fwd then maybe you'll see like 3 or 4 horses(if that) which you probably won't feel anyway. All I'm saying is if you go from your fwd stock dp to a awd stock dp, it doesn't sound logical to me at all. The time and effort you'll take to put that on and customization to get it done, you'd be better off with a after market fwd dp b/c it already comes for direct fitment and is specifically for your application. Where as if u take your friends stock awd dp cut, splice, bend, weld, and flange if need be will cause more of a headache in my eyes!!

no actually the the awd stock pipeing is smaller than the fwds believe it or not, but also consider there exhaust flow has a straighter path so maybe that compensates.
Anywho, just make sure its at least a 2.5 dp and take it to an exhaust shop and get it all custom done. Will save you some trouble, personally I believe in getting the entire exhaust system custom done. We took my old stock dp flange, plasma cut it into a 3in inlet and welded it on a 3in pipe and made a custom 3in dp. Saved a lot of money that way.

I believe the Stock AWD Downpipe is fairly small and smaller than your FWD. The AWD is bent differently to get around the AWD Components. I would reccomend you also buy a Megan Racing AWD Down Pipe for about $150-$200 and you'll have a great fitting part that gives you some extra power w/o any hassle.

Ok to set the story straight the AWD DP is a Tsudo 3in...HE gave it to me becuase the megan is longer and it shines more(what he says).I already have a custom 3in Exhuast with my OE DP..My girls dad is a certified welder for Ingalls Shipyard..So gettting it welded is no problem...I also just ordered SSAutochrome dump and thier header(bad idea gona get the welds checked). And my big 16G from ExtremePSI should be here in a week or two(from what they say)..Crosses fingers

To tell you the truth, sell the awd dp that you received and put it towards the one that will directly bolt on. Save yourself the headache!!

it wont be a headache if he has a good welder. The differences arent that severe. And its a 3in dp so he doesnt have to worry about the small stock awd dp ( which is smaller than fwd like I was saying ) I think youll be fine. Like I said we custom made my whole exhaust and it wasnt hard so your task shouldnt be either.

Just consider you may be raising the chances of boost creep, unless you ported out your turbo correctly, or have an external w.g.

do you still have stock exhuast? i dont recall reading that you have aftermarket.. if so. like nightspeed87 said.. ya may run into boost creep from the 3'' DP to your 2'1/4*if im not misstaken* stock exhuast pipes.
