Alright, on the way to college this morning i started getting a little belt squeel. No biggie i though to myself, i'll just fix it when i get home.

Well, on the way home, it gets worse and worse. So i drop by my mechanics and have them take a look at it.

As it turns out, whatever "alternator belt tension adjuster" thing that adjusts the belt tension for the PS and Alt, is stripped. Which they forgot to tell me when they did a belt adjustment a while ago. So now i'm stuck.

STUCK, trying to source a part that i don't even know what to call. The mitsu near me didn't wanna just order a part and have it be the wrong part, and i can't find it on trade motion. I also don't have a p# or caps to look it up.

So i need a hand figuring out what this is or a part # or place to get it like ASAP. Driving around doesn't feel safe with this backing out.

It's some kind of belt adjustment and locker. Haynes calls it an "alt belt adjuster". But no one seems to be able to pull that up as a viable name.
 
The power steering and alternator have different adjusting bolts.
If its the one that goes "through" your alternator brace bracket, I'd say your best bet might be a junkyard, that's where I found mine. My car didn't have one when I bought it. But I was able to tightened the bolt that just goes into the bracket tight enough to prevent it from backing out or squeaking.
I dont have any of my diagrams or caps here at work, I'll look it up when I get home.
 
I did a search and it seems like more people have a better chance finding that part at the junkyard. Somebody claimed to have found the part at a dodge dealer so I guess you could give them a try.
 
Thanks you very much, i would try junkyards but i know for a fact all the ones around here don't have motors. Nor are they turbos. Nor do they have many dsm's period.

If anyone else can chime in on this i would pretty much love you forever.

That last pics shows it the best. I need whatever bracket and bolt crap that is that sits on the alt.

Yeah thats what I figured. I went to the dealership a few years ago and tried to describe to them thats what I needed and we couldn't find one.. I had to goto a junkyard.(that was before i had diagrams, and caps)
But if you look on the side of the alternator(where the belt it)(shows it in pic 2) you'll see another bolt that goes into that bracket. If you pry your alternator back enough, and tighten that bolt really tight, it should not squeal or come loose(at least not for a long time). It's a temporary solution at least, if you need one.
 
Thats what my mechanic did just as a temp. But i'd really like to find one so i don't have to keep getting it adjusted. So i dunno, I just sent an email with those pics to mistugraveyard so hopefully they can hook me up with what i need.

Otherwise. . . I dunno. Was this bracket on the NA 1g's as well? Or just the turbos? Also, i'm an A/T. The guy at mistu said it looked like there was a difference. But i don't see how because that side of the motor is exactly the same.
 
Mitsugraveyard has got what i need it sounds like. So as long as they can get it to me by monday ish (i hope they can) I'll be all set.

I wouldn't mind getting a part# on this just out of curiosity, so if anyone has caps and can find it let me know.
