upon starting my car, the silly thing doesn't feel spry. normally the car starts up to 2000 rpms then falls civilized-like to normal idle. however, in the past month it's lucky if it starts up to 1000 rpms before putting it's way to normal idle. Half the time I have to force it up with the gas so that it'll stay running then i have to let it back down easily to idle but then it will hold idle. the car acts normal other than when first starting it up. Someone told me that it could be the idle control motor on the tb, I just replaced the cps a couple of months ago cause it was turning the car off randomly. but it worked fine after the install til now. any ideas on if that's it or where i could get one for cheap that works (junkyard or parts car from somewhere) or whether or not parts places would carry them...I hate dealerships...

Try cleaning the throttle body and ISC first to see if there is any improvement. You can also test yours while you have it all apart.

try replacing your fuel filter....had a similar problem and went nuts trying to figure it out....cleaning the throttle body and what not but turned out to be an old fuel filter

no CELs, fuel pump was replaced under a year ago with a new fuel pump when the relay shorted and burnt the other fuel pump

If you test the ISC for proper resistance and operation (6 volt battery) then it's probably good. I wouldn't disect it.

Remove the connector to the ISC# There are six pins on the ISC. They are labeled 1 2 3 across the top and 4 5 6 across the bottom. (see left) Measure the Resistance between pin's 1-2, 2-3, 4-5, and 5-6 Each pair of pins measured should read 28-33 Ohms Note: The values should measured with the car off and cool! If any of the "coils" (which is what you're testing) are bad then your ISC needs to be replaced If all the coils were good there's one other thing to check on the ISCUse a 6volt battery (lantern or camera battery) and apply 6 volts to the ISC motor. Use jumper wires to connect the positive (+) terminal of the battery to terminals 2 and 5 of the ISC and the negative battery terminal to terminals 3 and 6 of the ISC. If there is no movement or vibration from the motor, then it is bad Note: The use of a 12volt battery will destroy the ISC motor!!#
