As title states...I ordered up some -10AN fittings from SBR, and got some fittings for a braided line...and Ive tried just about every length and its either too short or kinks badly...
Does anyone have a pic of a SS braided line installed with -10an fittings?? so I can see the length...or see if something is funky with the positiioning of my turbo/oil pan? I even tried sticking some regular rubber hose over the fittings to see if it would make the bend and same thing kink to almost 80% of the hose is blocked off..if not more...and extreme strain on the fittings...
I wonder if a 90degree fitting for the pan would work it almost looks like it will but then again im always wrong..

Im tearin out hair and bleeding from my fingertips from the damn braided line ends..im almost tempted to make a big loop so that i can get this car back on the road.

maybe I'm missing something, but I know with rubber line you can cut it to fit so that it doesn't kink very much. Do you have a picture of how bad it is? I understand that braided steel lines can be more troublesome though

*edit* his title says he has a straight and one 45 deg angle fitting.

I used the straight fitting on my turbo oil return and the 45deg at the oil pan and it seemed fine.

Are the fittings your using straight or angled? dont make a loop that will cause the oil to back up and not drain and then your turbo will push oil past the seals

I should have taken a pic...but ive since removed and recut so many times and now just have a normal rubber hose on it...Ill take a pic tomorrow im tired now LOL...
But it was kinking to the point that getting the fittings to screw on was tough, really tough..and I wouldnt want them to be stressing too much....am hoping someone has a pic of one installed with minimal kinking....

one is straight fitting on turbo side, and other is a 45degree one on pan...

Yea the loop seems like a bad idea now that I think of it...I read in another post that the return is not pressurized? how could that be? anyway ill take their word for it...

An SS return line that actually fits? My dear boy, you ask far too much. Next thing you know you'll be expecting expensive parts to fit correctly and without modification. You're out of your mind.:nono:

ROFL

I had the same problem. I had to buy a 90* and fit with much struggle, swearing, bleading, throwing stuff etc... and its still not knik free, but it flows fine so I'm not worried about it, the line is huge, a tiny kink won't hurt it.

As you can clearly see, just not happening with the 45*:

$40 and the aformentioned aggrivation later:

Return does not need to be pressurized. If you notice it is much larger in diameter than the feed line. The oil just flows with gravity back to the oil pan.

If your hose is the right length it shouldn't kink.

Obviously you've never delt with a 4" peice of -10 sized SS line. It has NO play. It just kinks when bent. Its also not clear in the picture, but it is FAR from a straight shot down from the turbo outlet fitting to the pan fitting. The pan fitting is recessed in about an 1" and left about 1" and at the wrong angle with any degree fitting. Its by no means a matter of just getting the length right.:notgood:

Thanks, those pics are perfect!
Ill definatly have to get a 90degree then...:thumb: :thumb:
argh now ill have to wait like 2 days to get it :(

Make sure you get the full swivel like the Mybeatgsx has.
Jegs has an awesome assortment and free shipping. I custom make my own for my race car. At first I was not keen on spending all that money for some hoses. But after making them and realizing the stress and abuse they are able to endure with no issues on the track while racing is we worth it. All my brake, tranny, fuel, and guages use braided line. Probably over $500 alone in lines. I never had one fail, cept when I hit the wall doing 70. They are not made for that kind of abuse...
;)

With the size of the fittings, it leaves you with about 4" of line to work with. As you found out you can't do much with 4" of line. I've tried every combination of 90's 45's, straight's. It never worked to my liking. 1g's and Galant's are much more difficult to fit a return line, with the motor mount in the way.

This is the line I have now and it doesn't kink at all. You can clearly see the difference in the length of hose and how it would be easier to make the bends without kinking

Grrr....it just pisses me off that ive gotta wait till monday till the new fitting is here (why oh why didnt i get overnight shipping!) now i can sit on my ass and waste the next 4 days with no drivable car...its all sea foams fault!!! If i hadnt sea foamed I wouldnt have noticed the cracked manifold..and wouldnt have HAD to replace it..and then decided to drop the oil pan to check on the oil return line bolt holes and decided to replace the whole line...all sea foams fault...

Sounds like that saying about losing the war because of a horse shoe nail.LOL

GVR, I have a PTE SCM-6152. I like your suggestion here but I am not all that familiar with these turbo differences. If I was to order that line do I want to order:
1.FP30 Style?
2.T3/T4 Style?

I took off an E316G and the old stock steel line didn't fit obviously, but I don't want to waste money/time ordering the wrong one.
Thanks!
