Ok i searched and found nothing. I pulled the motor and trans from my 90' AWD 5spd and with the motor and tranny out i still cannot get the trans off. EVERY housing bolt is off. It slides back about 1 to 2 inches and wont go anyfurther(wont go past the flywheel). do i just have to keep trying and pry it off or is their something i have to remove first before the trans can seperate

thanks
chris

You have the inspection plate and the block to tranny bolt out as well right?

If so, there is nothing holding them together. Wiggle and pull like mad, it'll come off.

i took off every bolt i saw on the housing the whole trans comes back and i can go past the flywheel a little bit on the top but then the bottom falls back against the block ..ive pryed and pulled ..i just dont want to break anything...

It's not a dollhouse, man up! Just don't use a prybar or anything :)

Make sure you lift up. The tranny is held up by a mount at all times, so right now it's probably leaning a bit like this: /

Lift up the ass end and pull.

Did you take the transfer case off? cause the tranny won't split unless you take the transfer case off too. thats another 5 bolts. :)

also there is 1 small bolt near the back where teh transfer case is that holds that protetive shield to the tranny. Lift up and try to twist as you pull back.

The tranny being in gear shouldnt effect it at all. There is no pressure on the cluth fork to move the tob to engage so your fine.

That's what I would do. I've had few of them get stuck, sometimes it just takes some force.

I agree...sometimes its better to use your feet than your hands!

This just happened today:

For some reason the sound doesn't work but I said " This is how you install a GT35R on a 4g63"....and as my buddy jumps on the manifold I am cracking up ROFL ROFL and I finish it up with, "if the water lines dont want to fit, F*ck it, jump on the manifold...hilarious."

Oh yeah we got it on eventually...

Different part but same idea...

Eek. I would be careful not to snap off the exhaust manifold studs...

naw the studs were not on, it was just resting on top of the water return line...at the end I finally convinced him to cut the steel line and connect it with a water hose.

McGuiver for sure! He's the only one I know who can take off a turbo with one tool. LOL:beatentodeath:
