The title pretty much says it all: is it better to go with the 1g head, or will porting your existing 2g head give a satisfactory gain?

Everyone has their own theory on this subject, but from experience i think the 1g head works alot better. If i were you id go with a ported 1g head.

Like stated, everyone has different opinions. 2g heads have a better design for flow, 1g heads have larger ports, but have a 90 degree angle at the valves. 2g head is more straight on. If ported incorrectly, 2g head could have uneven a/f ratios in different cylinders or may even decrease airflow. Either one will work IMO, but what do you want to do this for, a different intake mani?

That applies to any cylinder head, not just the 2g head.

I say 1G head, if you want greater top end flow, if you want better exhaust flow then 2G head. Go 1G, it will flow more then a ported 2G head. Plus you will be assured of proper A/F Ratio through out each cyl.

It would probably be easier to go with a 1g head. You would need someone who knows what their doing to do a good job porting the 2g head. I personally would go with a ported 2g head, because I like to be different than everyone else :)

If it were my car I'd port the 2g head to install the 1g intake manifold
You would have to port match the 2g head ports to match the 1G intake runners since they are much larger. This could cause structural integrity to be comprimised (sp?).
