i am in need of some serious help from any one. sry this is kinda long. the other day my radio quit working and i had my friend look at the wiring and see if he could figure it out. told him NOT TO ARC ANY WIRES. well guess what he did:mad: any way doing so the two wires that he arc'd shut the car off ( it was running) and now i cant get it to stop running piggy pig rich. i believe he arc'd the wires that go to the SAFCII. because it also shows the throttle being at 100% with the throttle closed. i have a video so you guys have a better idea of what its doing. ill load a video off my helmet cam after i drive it well try to drive it. it bucks bogs blows black smoke, and im so mad. PLEASE HELP

Cant view the videos, try posting them on videos.streetfire.net or something.

Also, get in there and rip all the wires out for your radio and leave them out, take the wires for the safc out and rewire them back together, reset your safc to your original settings and try again, also check for CEL's and blown fuses.

Well, since im guessing your CEL wasnt on before?, do you have any sort of logger to check what that CEL is?, if not take a ride over to an autoparts store and see if they can do a free obd check.

lets pray he didnt short something in your ECU, you might want to take that out and check it for damages.

i have a plam piolet with odb guage and i couldnt get it to read any codes yesterday but when it first started acting up i got 3 codes:::::
p0115 engine coolant temp
p0110 intake air temp
p0100 mass or volume air flow

i pulled my ecu out and heres a picture not really sure about these i dont know too much some but not a wiseman at it

the pics are a little blurry, heh, not sure on that, First things, since your ecu is pulling those 3 CEL codes, replace those sensors, you should be able to pick up the engine coolant temp sensor at most auto part stores, try that one first since its fairly cheap to replace, i think i bought mine for 20$, and if i am not mistaken, the last 2 sensors are your mass airflow, i had similar CEL codes, and it was the whole mass airflow sensor.
If that is the case, you may be wanting to look into a MAF-T, since i know for the 1G's a new MAF from the dealer or autopart store can run you around 200-300$, once again im not exactly sure on the prices and exact problems, but that is pretty much the same thing my car did when i had a bad MAF and engine coolant temp sensor. Also see if you can check out the Capacitors on the ecu, if your not sure what im talking about heres a link to understand what to look for and how to replace them.

Another thing, if your still unsure about your ecu, and since i dont think your car is drivable anyways in this condition, you can have your ecu sent out overnite to a place called Foreign ECU Repair, they are really cheap and they do amazing work.

oh yea , the first link is of a 1G ecu, but you'll get the idea of what im talking about with the capacitors.

I wouldn't go throwing a bunch of parts at it just yet.

Get a clearear picture of the ECU and post it up. Then PM Steve and ask him if he would mind taking a look at your pictures. He is the resident ECU expert. While you are waiting for Steve to get back to you, go check on your "friends" hack job. Make sure that the SAFC is still wired up correctly and also look for burnt or black wires. Lastly, keep your friend away from your car. ;)

Well, i suggested really trying to change out the engine coolant temp, since its cheap, and somtimes in stock, also if you take more clear pics of the capacitors, ill be able to tell you if those are going to need replacement, also really your best bet instead of having people looking at your ecu from pictures would to be just send the thing out and have them test it like professionals, there could be more problems with your ecu then what the eye see's.

yah ill try to use my other camera and get better pictures. also i have some money saved up and plan on getting a new ecu of ebay making sure my car will run like it did and then send it out and put a dsmlink in it. ill be riping my radio out safc out and checking double and triple checking the safc wires and any other ones i see. on a side note i also got my car back for the trans shop and they moved my postitve battery termial and it arch on my hood. there a black arc mark so what damage could that have done? thank god i checked the oil before i left their parking lot.(and noticed it)

Well if it continued to spark for a little while and they didnt notice it, you could have done some ECU damage, sensor damages, could have blown a bunch of fuses also, try checking all your fuses and relays.

Before you go buying an ECU off of ebay, i would send your ECU out, to those guys i told you about they do a complete free check on your computer, if it needs to be fixed they will contact you immed, and tell you whats going on, and NO, they will not do any unnecessary work just to make money, i sent out an ECU for a friend and they diagnosed it good, if they wanted to they could have said the capacitors were bad and made some money. Visit the link i gave you for the ECU repair company. They are a trusted company, Tom Stangl "owner of VFAQ swears by them.

Hey Ryan, I didn't read much on the post but you had told me that your friend had arched teh wires under the drivers seat. Those wires are for the rear o2 bypass. Which if he shorted them out you are going to have an ecu problem...... It shorts out the o2 part of the ecu...... maybe that helps you out guys..

i fixed it today i re-wired those wires under the seat and re-applied solder to the broken copper path carefully, and now it runs like a champ. but i still will never let my friend work or touch my car. thanks for all your help. i hope to order a dsmlink and have it put in before it gets crappy out. thanks again.
