Hey Guys,
I've searched and searched and can't come to a valid conclusion based on the results I've found.
I have a 93 Talon TSi, and I recently skipped time and crushed my exhaust valves. I did the head rebuild and everything went okay - except for one thing. I really don't think I have the right head bolts. The ones that came out of the car were a like a 12 point star head. Now, the bolts that I got from the local autoparts store are a 6 point inverted hex head. The new ones thread into the block but aren't long enough.
Here's where it gets a little hairy... At least for me. The part number for the bolts is ES71175 and every autoparts store I've searched gives the same results, so no matter where I go, I'm going to get the wrong bolts; and these bolts CAN'T be the right ones. Is my car a mutant or what?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Beck

If your original bolts have a 12 point head, they are for a 7 bolt engine. The bolts with a 10mm hex are for a 6 bolt. Considering that the 12 point head bolts are an 11mm and the 10mm hex bolts are 12mm, there is phisically no way that they will thread into the block. With that being the case, you must have the wrong bolts. In order to get the proper bolts, get them for a 95 4g63. After a quick search, I found that the correct part # is es71177.

In may-june, 1992, dsm went to the 7 bolt engine. A lot of auto parts stores dont list the change until 95 so sometimes it is hard to get the correct parts without going to a dsm specific vendor

I have a similar question, and i searched and this came up. I was having a nasty lil oil leak from my head gasket right next to the bell housing. So went out and got a gasket for the 4g63 and said it fit 90-99 and now im getting the ARP head bolts, someone is offering me some 9?-94 head bolts for free since he had an extra package will these fit my 95 7-bolt?

this is what they look like
